Aiden McGeady

Anyone else think he looked lazy when he came on?

Didn't track back once. I'd like to see again if he could have done better for either goal (obviously not the only one).
Agree mate looked like he couldn't be arsed kept giving the ball away like the Leicester game.

Regardless of all that, both those goals conceded were defensive howlers. Why would anyone want to hang them around the neck of a winger?

I did think it was McCarthy.

I'm not hanging them round his neck because I haven't seen either goal back yet, but defending is about every player on the pitch, not just your back four.

So why were the goals conceded specifically down to McGeady?

Wrong decision to bring McGeady on today, we'd all but conceded the midfield and it should have been either Besic or Stones that came on. McGeady playing as he did today is a luxury we cannot afford.

By saying he's not the only one who could have done better?

Is it?
But if you weren't singling him out you wouldn't have named him. I know you aren't tearing the player to pieces by the way. I'm just wondering why a winger's name is mentioned in relation to the ywo goals conceded. Never mind where McGeady was, where was, for example Coleman or McCarthy? That make more sense to me given the two attacks came from that side and they are tasked with closing them down..

84th minute 2-0 up and then we just defended like last week Jags and Distan at fault for both goals - Jags looks poor to me , and Distan was only a little better - John Stones needs to replace jags with Duffy on the bench - their equalizer Jags jump to head the ball away was pathetic!

How any one can blame a substitute for those defensive errors baffles me!

I've named him because it's the McGeady thread. Everyone else has pointed out that Jagielka and Distin, say, were poor, I was just offering another thought.

You could say that, but Coleman and McCarthy had been on the pitch for 87 minutes or whatever it was compared to McGeady's, what, 5?

You can't just say if an attack is down one side it must be the defender's fault. Goals can come from strikers giving the ball away, midfielders losing a tackle etc. Ozil was arguably at least partially fault for both of our goals today by letting Coleman go for the first one and making a half arsed attempt at chasing Lukaku in the build up for the second.
