disagree, lukaku has a good attitude, and a good work rate, just doesn't need to run himself into the ground because he has actual Potential talent, unlike naismith.

I don't doubt he has more potential than Naismith. Has he shown it yet? Arguably not. A whole season upfront and he got ten league goals. Naismith got a decent return from appearances on the wing, number 10 and as a sub. If all our strikers had played the whole of last season up front in our system who would I it my money on to get the most goals? Naismith. Lukaku got ten, Kone would struggle to get near that but I think Naismith could have beat that with ease based on his goalscoring form in other areas.

The difference obviously is that Lukaku with the right service could be a 30 goal a season striker whereas Naismith probably never would be but why can he not be valuable to the squad as a backup striker rather than Kone? I'd even argue there's some home games when teams park the bus that he offers a bit more variety than Lukaku who gets fed up and starts trying to play tippy tippy in the centre circle.

This shout of "He's good enough for 2nd/3rd/4th choice" needs to stop. Did nobody learn the lesson from Alcaraz?

What people forget is that we don't choose these 4th choice players play. They're all fine if they come in against an alehouse team in September who we're going to have 90% possession against. Often though they'll need to play in crucial games such as let's say big European knockout games?

Every player in the squad needs to be someone who if you saw their name on the team sheet you wouldn't groan. McGeady falls into this catagory. A few decent sub efforts when he signed and a peach on the opening day of last season doesnt stand up against 18 months of being a carthorse.

I'm not having these "inconsistent but magic in the boots" shouts either. When? He has never looked a player in a blue shirt. He has been found out outside of Scotland. He can go back for me. Worth a punt at the time since we were getting him for a song but it didn't work out.

He's worth keeping hold of, but I dont think he's going to hang around just to warm the bench.

One of those players you know will go elsewhere in the PL and have a good season. Bound to happen.

It's weird. He's essentially everything I love in a player.

Quick, unnecessary skills, step overs, spectacular goals (when they happen) but I cannot stand him.

Thing is mate, i love all the same things in a wide man, the thing your missing though is that drive that people like kanchelskis had, when they'd just go at someone, del has it too, mcgeady just faffs around looking clueless half the time, the other half he just looks terrible

Never been known as "snake hips mcgeady". Lad needs a salad. His silky skills will taco of themselves....give him thyme, he'll come gourd.

We are never really honest with ourselves about players. We always think they are going to come good but they almost never do. The only two that i can think of that did are Joe Parkinson and Nicky Barmby.

i don't think he was ever really committed enough to make the step up.

He was literally in town every week, getting smashed.
