Everton Alumni Aiden McGeady

I remember he couldn’t physically cross the ball properly, he didn’t know how to wrap his foot around it to put bend or swerve on the ball he just awkwardly stabbed/poked at it and it just ended up floating away in the same direction his body was facing every time. Really weird player.

Bizarre set of skills. Could dribble fairly well and score the odd worldy but he couldn't pass more than 6 yards, making him totally unreliable.
In a league cup tie at (IIRC) Barnsley he missed a sitter from 8 yards out and the camera caught Bobby Brown Shoes mouthing something to the effect of Qué coño ha hecho

Can’t remember which sticker book it was, but I’m leaning towards Euro 2012, where I had a monumental pile of Aidan McGeady swaps. His sticker was one of the ones that came with the book as well, so couldn’t get rid. Harrowing.

As a player, though, he was very crap.

another player like walcott and lennon that i wouldve loved with us around 2008 but we bought him way after his peak

chipped in with some assists back end of 13/14 campaign and was favoured to start of 14/15 well. great goal at leicester and then nothing after that
We bought him age 27, which should have been right in the middle of his peak. Unfortunately, he just wasn't good enough.

Like so many started with a lot of hope and promise. Was a top corner finish at leicester. It takes some doing for your debut to be your highlight.

You've got to question your agent if he's taking you from the colds of Scotland to the Tundra's of moscow. We loaned him to Wednesday so at least got a bit of revenge for that slug alexandersson, eventually fobbed off onto Sunderland around the same time as 'a few pints gibson', McGeady only retired just over 18 months ago. 18-38, two decades in the pro game. Must have trained like a world beater.
