oh ffs CLOSE THREAD (btw well said TB)

Im with the KGB on this one we need some steel in the centre, the midfeild needs to be more solid and less easy to break and pass through - additionaly we have been caught to many times on the break this season with a sucker goal, we have been out battled in some games this season.

Im not talking about a leg breaker because these days you simply cant get away with it, a player theough who will provide the platfor for Mofro, Pienaar and Arteta to play and who will win the battles in midfeild while also provideing protection for the back four.

Above all we need that type of personality in the squad, someone who is prepared to battle and circle the wagons and put a marker down on intent when things arent going as well as we would like. Simply put we have been out battled at times this season and i think we ned someone in the squad who can matech steel, commitment and desire in the battle with same.

We need someone like that Phil Neville who put that crunching tackle in on Ronaldo in that game once.

Can't wait for your next pointless thread next time one of our players takes too long on the ball and gets tackled.

"Blah blah blah conspiracy wah wah wah the bullies are ganging up on me".

If you don't like it don't keep signing up under new usernames everytime you get banned to post the same crap.

Seemples as they say.

I was going to abouse you a bit, but i'm just going to put you on ignore.

It's probably the best thing to do in the long run

So you don't think Heitinga is the man for that job then? It's not a case of people disagreeing with what your saying, but simply acknowledging that we actually do have players like that at the club. If we don't then we may aswell get rid of both Fellaini and Heitinga right now.

I most certainly do i have championed him there now for a while. Its either a centre back like Onuhoa or Mouyokola who can grow and become a quality player at centre back for me and play the Heit in the centre, or play the Heit in central defence and get someone like Sulley Multari on loan for the season with a view to a perm if Inter were willing of course.

Personaly i would go with the Heit in the centre of midfeild, hes a good steady defender but i feell we could recruit at a lesser premium in that postition then we could in midfeild. He has a natrual tenacity, charicter, leadership, distribution, vision and quality to play there. If he improved his discpline in holding his positional play and grew into the position tactically i think we have our man. In fact he has the ability to turn into one of the best DM on balance of defensive and offensive play in that position in the prem without a shadow of a doubt.

It all depends on how Moyes wants to set up next year and where he sees The Heits long term future, i have an inkling hes sees him in that anchor role in midfeild and has done since he bought him.

If not it doesnt negate the need that i feel we need someone with those qualites in that role. We have been powderpuff at times this season in terms of solidity through the midfeild and have lost numerous battles in that area.

Vitaly though we need an effective outlet on the right and this should be prioritised above all else.

I can't say I'd disagree with you, I think Heitinga could do an outstanding job in either centre position, defence and midfield. And that's all I'm saying really, we do have players who can fill that role. Heitinga, Fellaini and Neville can all do it to varying degrees. Add players like Jagielka, Cahill, and the power of Anichebe and Yakubu and you have a pretty powerful team in my eyes. And that's not forgetting young Jack, who's going to get bigger and stronger over the next few years. We just have to get these players out on the pitch together week in week out which hasn't been the case for alot of the season.

And Muntari's a good shout, I wouldn't mind seeing a player like him coming in, although I doubt we'd get him on loan.

I agree with the original poster, we need more steel, and we need to kick **** out of Liverpool at the next derby. We also need to start arguing some of the repetitively weird decisions that refs give against us. It's time to take the furry pink gloves off.

As a general rule your protection comes from your physically big players. That tends to mean your two centre backs, if there's beef goin on, you get them involved. Admittedly if we end up with Heitinga and Jags at the back they're not the biggest lads in the world, but there's still plenty there to get involved. Fellaini will solve this almost single handedly tho, we've already seen him batter three or four opponents out of the way on his own quite a few times, usually resulting in a foul against him. Trust me, no one will mess with our midfield if Fellaini is our first line of protection and Heitinga rolls in to back him up.

Laughing here. To those that have added nothing to the thread, 'stay on topic Laaaaaaaaaaaaaaa's'.
People who have seen the sense of the thread, nice one.
Appropriate article here > http://www.toffeeweb.com/season/09-10/comment/fan/15092.html > some salient points from Oates.
Cattermole is a decent little player. Diarra is a decent DM as well. Makalele is retired now but that type of super DM would be great. They are out there, and provide a lot of security and faith in their fellow pro's. It is easier to try something a bit difficult if you are confident you will get the ball back if you lose it.
And as for Mr.Ignore - why tell me? because you wanted me to know. And why is that, because you are obsessed. Laughable.
