Agent Fees.

I still don't get what your getting at. Its rather confused.

Neilers merely relating a concern on growing costs nothing more.

Its a good point he's making.

Matt, can you explain the difference between scouting and agents fees with regard to Everton's £3.5M bill. Cheers.

Bill's scouting fee is nothing to worry about after you do the required comparison with Villa. The GOT "finance team" recently broke the story that Lerner's taking £8M a year out of that club.

True that mate, most Villa fans were not aware of it the figure in actually 12.2mill.

Personaly i dont beleive the Scouting Fees thing - or seen any evidance to make me think its happening.

Im making the point on agent fees in the sense that you often here Evertonians say, where did the money go? Largely on operating costs as Dave mentioned a few days ago which are increaseingly as a trend on the rise at Everton. Picking one element the agent fees we seem in comparitive costs to be paying higher rates then other clubs when you take into account the amount of buissness we do, squad size etc. Defo an area saving could be made to free up captail.

Like i say Utds figures are quite astounding, when you think of the sheer scale of their playing operations.

OK Matt....taps nose......understand you and Neiller have to be careful, but I think we all know the unspoken allegation and to your credit it seems plausible.

The EU commission has the power to decide whatever they want if there's sociological and economic benefit.

If the clubs can't continue to meet these excessive (and growing) fees the EU commission could cap agent's payments. How they are made, accounted for etc. That's called "Regulation". Thats what the EU parliament could legislate and allow the commission to do.

They could also say; only EU established and registered members are able to act as agents. This means they're inside EU's jurisdiction meaning they can enforce this where clubs/agents aren't following the cap.

But then they're dictating how much a person should get paid for their job, which is why salary caps and wage caps are frowned upon.

And with agents, what's the criteria and wage structure for them as they're a 3rd party? its like capping a plumber to only charge a certain rate on each job he does.

Only they can enforce are.competative rates for services...but then all clubs will want to go to ones that charge the lowest fees, but players will want to go to the one that'll get them the best deal.

It's messy.

No, because I'm off out mate.

I'll correct my figure. If Neiler said Lerner's taking 12.2million I'll go with that too.

So are you saying Governments don't have the ability to cap Bankers bonuses?

And this isn't an industry where competition principles apply. Certain agents are acting like conglomerates, setting their own (and fixing) the fees they're charging. Extorting more and more money out. Unjustifiably.

Therefore the commission would step in to break up such behaviour.

Maybe when you get back?

What I'm driving at here is that this (scouting fees demanded by Bill) could be the source of the huge outgoing. I'm sorry I doubted you now. That said, the disticntion between scouting fee and agents fee - and how that works out splitting the pot between them - needs clarifying.

Beckford was on a free. Mucha too... factor that in. Agents always expect more when their players were out of contract.

Its also still cheaper than paying a transfer fee too! In that respect.

But the renewal agents fees still seem excessive. It all adds to the fact we couldn't cover our wage bill having breaking the structure, off loaded players to cover it, and unable to get a loan in.

No, but it hasn't stopped bankers getting millions in bonuses. And they're running the industry.

Agents are 3rd parties not associated with clubs but players working to get players deals they want. You can't put a price on their job but themselves, which sounds like what they'll do.

anyway meh

Just shows the society we're now living in....a Financial Review Team set up purely to show Everton's board in a good light by cherrypicked comparisons with other clubs......must now take up the mantle of an Anti Corruption Review Team.

Good luck lads, if anyone can clean this mess up ,it's you.

My money is also on the Financial Review Team. If they can just come up with the research that shows how all the top six clubs in front of us are in meltdown while Everton sit on laughing from mid-table, that'd be great.

Lads?
