Agent Fees.

They will always aim for self regulation, however when they review it and find somethings not working and there's market distortion or irregularities they'll then legislate.

In this study if they think that theres no possible way for self regulation (I agree - there isn't) they'll just legislate immediately.

OH and you're wrong about DECADES and you're wrong about the Fair Play licencing too.

Don't start that soft lad, different subject. And it'll take decades for that infastructure to kick in for us.

But agents aren't 100% involved in the football side, they're talent managers just like in any entertainment so it'll be hard to dictate how much a agent should be paid for their services on their clients behalf.

As for the renewels...it surely cannot cost more for that than in does to actually buy players?

The EU commission has the power to decide whatever they want if there's sociological and economic benefit.

If the clubs can't continue to meet these excessive (and growing) fees the EU commission could cap agent's payments. How they are made, accounted for etc. That's called "Regulation". Thats what the EU parliament could legislate and allow the commission to do.

They could also say; only EU established and registered members are able to act as agents. This means they're inside EU's jurisdiction meaning they can enforce this where clubs/agents aren't following the cap.

Baines, Cahill, Arteta, Rodwell.... Anichebe

Who else signed a new contract? That there Neiler was one of our major costs

People said the club lacked "ambition" and we're a joke etc. But they renewed all of those in the past year.

Each one took a slice of that figure.

Pienaar's agent for instance, wanted a wedge. NO DOUBT. Everton thought, no enoughs enough simply the demand's too much.

Its what Villa didn't do ... work to a budget.

I still think its massively excessive mate and only up 1.5mill on the year before factoring in the contracts. Defo something we could look at Utd's figures are astounding when you think of the amount of buissness they do, squad size and what they actually make.

Ha ha, personaly id pass over to the dark side if i believed that was the case mate, hows the weather over there cloudy with a chance of rain!

You have to admit mate, there's some symmetry to this: Damon says that Kenwright gets £3M p.a. scouting fees and our agents fees come to a staggering £3.5M.

I think we may have been a little harsh on Matt. Kenwright is trousering £3M. Nice bit of research there from the Neiler/Damon Financial Review.

We'd need to see the three or 5 year trends to comment. 2010 could be an aberration (i.e. not normal)... and see how Everton deviate from the market rate year to year.

Key thing is how many players contracts also / signings did each club make relative to the figures.

Two years Neiler isn't enough to make a decent comparison of Everton's performance.

To all the other clubs.

But 3.5million? With the 3 players we signed that's 8 players getting paid 400k agents fee each

Comparatively high agent spend to low purchase spend, from the club that used to be riddled with proactive shareholders? I can see why you're concerned Neller........another scandal so quickly following on from the scouting fee issue broke by the other half of the "finance team". :o

Why? Was Bill's scouting fees just a one off for 2010/11?

Beckford was on a free. Mucha too... factor that in. Agents always expect more when their players were out of contract.

Its also still cheaper than paying a transfer fee too! In that respect.

Bill's scouting fee is nothing to worry about after you do the required comparison with Villa. The GOT "finance team" recently broke the story that Lerner's taking £8M a year out of that club.

Yeah but as the Villa fans like Shoody stated "that's counted within the wage bill"

That wage bill that's something like 90% of their turnover.

I think on that basis Bill deserves a rise. He's undercutting the market rate for chairman plundering their own clubs.

The Financial Review Team need to act here.

It's what Neiler's saying that's concerning, following on from other respected sources news on scouting fees etc. FIFA just seems to be the tip of the iceberg.

I still don't get what your getting at. Its rather confused.

Neilers merely relating a concern on growing costs nothing more.

Its a good point he's making.
