Seriously, Ancelotti had a first rate game plan but it doesn't work unless the players execute. Courtouis was a god, but that defense got in the way of so many shots that could have wrecked his day. The save off the woodwork was also incredibly kind on the bounce.

It's 100% how Madrid wins, and full marks to Carlo for finding it, but it was also a match where the best laid plans last until the arrow leaves the string. Top talent was necessary to pull that one off. Klopp beats anything less.

It was amazing too that it's an underrated and less told tory that Ancelotti has done the double in a transition season. They've lost Ramos, Ronaldo, Bale, Marcelo and Varane in recent years and this is still a relatively new and young team. I think he's being pragmatic before he rebuilds, and sorts out what to do with Kroos, Casemiro and Modric long term too. amazing work
