Age of the squad

That doesn't make sense to me. Hitzlsperger is 30, why does he only have a year left ? Pienaar has never relied on pace, i don't see there being any problem with him remaining good for 3 seasons at least, never mind 2.

Hibbert is 31, Neville is 35. Why does the latter have a season left but the former only 2 ?

Look at my last sentence! Makes perfect sense.

Neville - 1 year
Distin - 1-2
Hitzlsperger - 1

Hibbert - 2
Osman - 2/3
Pienaar - 2/3

Based on competing at the top of the premiership

If these 3 aren't still playing at the top level in 4 years then I'll be surprised (maybe excluding Hitz).

Hitzlsperger is just as good a CM as Phil Neville to say the least, and he's five years younger. Why do they both have the same amount of time left at the top ? I'd take Hitz over Nev any day in midfield.

If Neville is 35 and you're considering him a right back, why does Hibbert only have one year more left despite being four years younger ? Hibbert isn't showing any signs of being any more physically tired than Neville and i'd take Hibbo over him at right back as it stands.

I just don't get it.

First of all my bold... Not sure where I considered him a RB??

Phil Neville has been a model pro on and off the pitch forever. He can play numerous positions unlike both you are comparing. Without doubt is a fitter person than both you mention.

Hibbert seems to be picking up niggling injuries of late and in alot of Evertonians eyes has never been good enough for Everton never mind top 6 of English football.

Hitzlsperger cant even last 70mins of a game without running out of steam at the age of 30. Hes not good enough for the top 6 as it is and if he played every game we would not occupy the position we do at the monent.

Therefore, years I've said make every sense.

BTW i prefer Hibbert over Zneville at RB. I even put him over Coleman until late. Hibbert is a more solid right back than Coleman just not as effective going forward. Both can play a role in different games

They just don't though.

The Phil Neville model pro stuff is irrelevant. You say he is 'undoubtedly' fitter than Hibbert, but he's just come back from knee surgery and runs like he is under water most of the time.

Hitzlsperger's fitness is constantly improving, he was out of the game for a long time. Even if he's not playing 90 minutes every week, how has he only got one season left ? He's a better CM than Neville all day long, and is five years younger.

Hibbert is 31 and has had some injury problems as of late. So has Kevin Mirallas. When it comes to actually playing football he's perfectly capable and i see no reason to suspect he can't be a functional squad member until he is the age Neville is now. Where have you gotten the indication he can't be ?

To say Neville and Hitz both have the same shelf life is madness.

My bold... No its not. Hitzlsperger will have 6 months at us. He will then leave for a last pay cheque at a mid table club in Germany before retiring or going into the abyss (crap leagues) by the time hes 33. Im pretty sure that will be the case. His fitness isnt improving at all hes goosed at 60minutes. Neville can still do a full 90 (if not longer) at 35. Miles fitter than Hitzlsperger....if neville runs like in water I dont know what your description of Hitzlsperger will be because he aint no mo farah either.

Hibbert is a fit lad no doubt but starting to show signs of little injuries. Can only play at RB so I give him 2 seasons beyond this one to be good enough to play and keep us up in the top 6.

Neville can do a full 90, at walking pace.

Jesus leave it be. Whilst I understand the point your trying to make with the others.....hitz is a ex international has-been with a bad injury history who is not good enough for the higher ends of the PL. infact the quality in our side is helping him a lot. Imagine him in villa's side...

He won't be with us next year based on ability age and fitness.
