Stones out, I feel like crying and yes I am one of those who refuse to rule out relegation. It's high time that we all learned ANYONE can be below the dotted line.
But that being said, we've had similarly poor starts (equal to or less than 1 point per game, so less than 8 from 7) and been fine.
My only fear is that the current crop lack the required fitness and defensive nous to turn it around even if the tough 7-game start is out of the way, injuries, Palace only real disaster so far etc... But nonetheless - for those with short memories:
After 7 games (W-D-L)
2005 - 1-0-6 (3 points)
Next 3 = L,D,W
2010 - 1-3-3 (6 points)
Next 3 = W,D,W
2011 - 2-1-4 (7 points)
Next 3 = W,L,L
After 7 games (with fixtures swapped around)
2008 - 2-1-4 (7 points) - if Arsenal (A) came before Newcastle (H)
Next 3 = D,D,W
Our next three fixtures are Villa (H), Burnley (A) and Swansea (H) and this will be a shock....
If we take 7 points from the next 9, then our points total will be EQUAL to the total we had after ten games in the 2007/08 season, when we yielded the PL points record that stood until May this year.
