They could....but the fact we call it Germany 2018 tells us how rare that is. Plus they'd have to actually finish 5th to miss playing Jan 17th/18th.

Hate all international competitions tbh but at least with the world cup and Euros, they are played in closed season or international breaks. It still messes up the season a bit and you have the risk of injury or being worn out but these people are allowed to completely interfere and derail hundreds of clubs during a competitive season. Don't know how they get away with it. Should have been stopped or changed years ago.
