Everton's partnership with Fanatics is probably more telling than anything rendered so far.
Fanatics stateside bought Kitbag UK who've started to develop direct relationships with sports teams, including football, both domestic and international.
Fanatics usually try to negotiate full distribution rights to the brand, which can include (in Aston Villa's case) the ability for them to produce their own ranges and plaster the logo onto it.
Other partnerships such as Chelsea, so far only really includes the management of the online store. Chelsea actually tried handing full rights over to Nike (kit sponsor and manufacturer) but they really messed up the distribution and marketing of the online store. So it's been handed back to Fanatics.
This is all just a long winded way of saying that Everton's partnering with Fanatics - probably means we can't expect a change in kit sponsor any time soon because it'd impact the agreement with Fanatics, which as far as I can see, is pretty substantial.
