Ademola Lookman

I know that I'm hard to please, but I thought Ademola and the rest of our lads were very good against Costa Rica last night. Clever shot between the goalies legs for the 2nd goal. Most goals scored between goalies & defenders legs are speculative, and commentators don't know the
difference.

Interesting. I always used to wonder if players saw the gap and deliberately put the ball between goalies legs. Then two years ago I took up football again in the form of Walking Football and at over 60 I quickly found that you could spot the goalie or defender with his legs wide open ,slot the ball through and score. While there will always be a degree of a speculative shot , if my old brain can spot the gap I'm now convinced that these younger, sharper well trained players do regularly mean to do it when they score between goalies and defenders legs.

If I nutmeg someone in five aside or the goalie I always mean it unless it is a speculative shot. His goal against city was not an intended nutmeg but yesterday's was.

There was a GK ( can't remember his name) said to,Brian Clough " I know boss I should have closed my legs" to which Brain Clough replied " I know son, pity your mother didn't.

I like the lad, the only thing that concerns me slightly is he doesnt, as a rule of thumb from what I have seen, pull the trigger first time and likes to take a touch. Think if he can be coached to mix it up a bit and obviously hit the weights to bulk up a bit (not too much though as to lose that explosiveness to his play) then he really does have potential to be some player.
