When he was waiting to come on, I wonder if Rom was telling him to anticipate Stones spooning something up and to be there when he does.

Easy to speculate now that's exactly what happened mind!

He's still got a lot of development to do , which is exciting. It's a difficult one , in some ways he would benefit from the training regimes our Academy/U23s do , e.g. constantly practising shooting with both feet , positioning without the ball etc. However he's a first team squad player and on the other hand will benefit from the likes of Lukaku, Mirralas etc. I'm not to worried about his size, he's never going to be able to hold people off like Rom but he's got the speed and control to get away from defenders. There's much more protection for attackers these days , hit him hard and late and he won't ride it and stumble like Rom, he'll go shooting up in the air making a penalty more likely. ( Something I learned from my playing days as a 9 stone midfielder, regularly knocked into the air, you just need to "fall ugly" , non of this arm s outstretched diving, nailed on penalty if in the box !)
Not seen anything of him at Charlton. From what I've seen at England youth he's extremely quick and direct with a few tricks in him. Reminds me a bit if SWP but that may just be his stature affecting my judgement.

Saw some comments from him in an interview with the S*n - not sure if it's from the weekend or previously.

Just a kid and only just arrived so not blaming him for it - but hopefully someone will tell him that needs knocking on the head.

the quotes from many months ago

Was it an exclusive? Re:Sun.
It may of been taken from his interview with a relatively new media company- he was their first interviewee?

From what I've seen, he seems very Martial to me.

Let's hope he's one of these strikers who is in the right place at the right time.
No one could have anticipated that Stones clearance would deflect too him.
If he chips in with 5 or 6 goals this season would be brilliant.

That finish reminded me of Defoe, low and hard. Love them finishes, makes it so difficult for the keeper.

A really good spot that mate. Looking at the Charlton forum a few made that comparison and said his best position may be as a Poacher but was never given a chance. He certainly didn't look out of place more centrally.
