Ademola Lookman

Because of our poor performance, we won't be attracting big names, so we better get used to United cast-offs or young up-and-coming gambles.

This is one of the latter. Never heard of him, won't make a judgement, but you have to trust Walsh. From YouTube vids (I know...) he looks Martial-ish, which isn't a bad thing.

£10m is the new £2m it seems - if he flops, we'll sell him at a minor loss, or even if he's just average we'll be able to sell on for around the same fee to a bottom half Prem club or a parachute payment funded relegated side. The risk is minimal.

Just look how much the RS got for Ibe

I remember the negativity when Stones signed...

We have;

Kenny
Connolly
Dowell
Calvert-Lewin

All in the England u20s squad. Lookman has played twice for that team already and that makes 5 of our players in the squad soon to be joined by Davies (u19s though he may even bypass the u20s).

Having 5 or 6 players in the England u20s ALL with game time in the premier league can only be a good thing.

Add in Holgate and Galloway who are both England u21s and thats 8 England youth internationals all on the fringes of our squad once Lookman signs.

Now, I'm not comparing this to United class of 92 but out of a 25 man squad 8 of which are listed above + Barkley thats 9 England internationals at various levels all with minutes in the premier league (i anticipate lookman will get on).

That can only be a good thing at the worst case as squad players allowing us to spend big on stars to compliment them.

Edit: I havent even included Walsh, browning or pennington who also could be involved

It is hard to see us paying £10 mill and then bringing in Depay on big wages to keep him out if the team. But if the deal is done then, hopefully, we have sorted out our approach to the transfer window and we will get in quickly and do our business without all the fuss. Couldn't stick another one like last time, bty why has Yarmalenko not been mentioned.
Unles depay is in loan till the end of the season, then it helps relieve the pressure on this young lad

Lots of speculation and assumptions that interest in Lookman will mean that we will not sign other wide players such as Depay. Why?

Has Koeman in anyway implied this, as from what I've read I've seen no such comments.

£10m now is like £4m was about 5 or 6 years ago. If that is the price so be it. Not our money is it. Not like we are spending the entire budget on this lad.

1 sold another on loan and another can't get a game....

....not a bad return is that. Three bought for little or no money, one a full England international and £50m recouped, the other 2 already Premiership footballers. I suspect there might actually be a future at Everton for Holgate, he looks very capable.

Clearly we also need 'proven' but as far as 'potential' is concerned I reckon that's quite good business.
