2025/26 Adam Aznou

The people who signed him disagreed with that view. And based on what I know about DM and his ability to spot young talent so do I. At least give him a chance. Just as DM did with JOB.

@Nymzee isnt wrong mate. He looks like an u18 trying to make the step up to the u21s and not standing out at all as a first team player.

Think he needs a lot of coaching on his defensive side and physicality.

I didn't know what to expect when we signed him, but his pedigree looked excellent and a few in here were really excited by his signing. I was hopeful he'd come in and instantly challenge Mykolenko, but the times I've watched him for the u21s, he's looked miles off it.

Fear not I have the upmost confidence that our scouts have seen something in him that most of us fools have failed to spot

Hes shown little glimpses that offensively he has something and that he's comfortable on the ball which is good to see. Just in the matches I watched it was clear his defensive side of things and physicality made me think it'll be a few months before he's first team ready.

Put it this way, if Mykolenko was injured on Monday, I'd be surprised if Moyss plumped for Aznou.

We do appear to have a surplus of young, inexperienced and/ or unproven players who are currently unable to fill in the positions where needed. Is this a project being undertaken by the Club, to bring them on in their career development so that they can grow together and over the next couple of seasons bed them into the side.

I wouldn't be against this personally but right now it's something of a luxury we can ill afford. Our primary target should be to have a competitive team/squad that is looking forward rather than over our shoulders as has been the case for the past few seasons.

I'm certainly not writing him off at all, he's just not ready for the PL yet.
That's the problem a lot have on here

One minute they are saying we need to buy young players with a chance of progression and a good resale value.
But the next minute they are calling them not good enough if they aren't Premier League ready (the most physical league in the world, even more so this season) after only spending 3 months in this country!
The same goes for Dibling & to a certain extent Barry (its not his fault he's been brought in and our other option is Beto)

Sean Dchye used to say regularly that Jake was not match ready and then when he played he obviously was and was Moyes best change last season.

Now, Adam is not match ready for a position we need upgrading. DM lacks imagination and despite other strengths this is precisely why he will never be a top manager.

The people who signed him disagreed with that view. And based on what I know about DM and his ability to spot young talent so do I. At least give him a chance. Just as DM did with JOB.

Baines & Coleman gave O'Brien the game and he's been mostly in the side since.

I think he will honestly be a very good player, but he is a very young, fairly slight attacking fullback whose biggest weakness is defending. It was always going to take quite some time for Moyes to trust that player and we're only a few games into his first season.

One thing I will say is if Moyes persists with this new role for Mykolenko where he comes infield and plays WAY up high between Grealish and the striker then that is a) a terrible fit for Mykolenko and b) an almost perfect fit for Aznou (stylistically), and I think that increases his chances of getting some minutes at the end of games. Maybe.

Everton more than any club i can see were not in the position to buy and bed players in. We dont have a right back fit for purpose. And you could say the same with left back. Thats why kenny tete made sense at the time.
If Everton put every egg in one basket and prioritised fullbacks and 1 decent enough centre forward i think we're more than half decent. As it is we have grealish and ndiaye who have no decent overlapping fullbacks to take players off them so they tend to be smothered. And centre forwards who are offering up virtualy nothing.
It wasnt the time to buy ones for the future. We didnt really have that luxury.

Even if he played him in front of Myko (and moved Grealish) we would at least have an idea of his ability in the first team.
iirc he bedded Coleman in from left wing when he’s first started getting games.

I think he's got Grealish simply locked in on that left side hasn't he which limits the position Aznou might get minutes. If we get an easy 3rd round FA Cup tie, we may get to see him there.

I think he'll get minutes at some point, just not sure when and I think we'd need to be about 6-0 up for Moyes to use 5 subs in a league game.
