We’ve been trying for years, and only managed geriatric stop gaps or people not up to the job. Myko played 35 league games last season. We could do with a left back, we’re desperate for a right back.

Like most of our squad, they just disappear.

If we can get this done we have a really good LB room. Mykolenko has more solid games than not. He is not Cafu but he offered more under Moyes. Aznou has a terrific pedigree, is young and is a naturally more attacking option. Not done yet but it is the right type of signing to try to seal. The mooted €9-11m price is an affordable risk with huge upside if he can live up to his potential.

That's a lot of good looks for £8m in a position where exactly that profile is great: someone who isn't needed to come in and immediately perform, but where we want to upgrade over the next season or so.

Edit: wow Valladolid were REALLY bad. 16 points and a -64 goal difference lol. Making yourself look good in any way at all on a team like that is some achievement (see also: Dibling)
