Absolute Legend Carlos Ancelotti

In that one full season he had, the football we played for the opening half dozen games or whatever was lovely. Genuinely entertaining, but it became clear quite quickly that we were too open and would come unstuck. He saw that and turned us into a defensive, functional outfit. It ended up as bad as Allardyce etc. It was a deliberate decision on his part to play that way because he thought we were crap. He wasn't wrong.

Why didn't it really work here? We brought in 3-4 players for him in James/etc. I get him leaving, it's Real Madrid. Where he continued to win everything. God I miss him.

But, straight up, we were absolute ass for almost a straight year. I "get" that we had substandard players that he was accustomed to. That football that was on display was some of the worst I've ever seen. You literally knew 5 minutes into a match how it was going to end. I just don't get how we just looked so so poor with internationals at almost every position.
Utter rat who jumped at the first opportunity he got, will never be a legend to me.

I always got the impression he wasn't a "hands on" Manager and would just instruct his backroom staff to sort it all out. He certainly buggered off after matches as remember those videos from the teams dressing room messing about with the karaoke machine and dancing around.

We finished top half. Virtually every team in the Prem has ‘internationals in every position’.

And the football has been much worse at times since..
Some of the football in home games in the latter part of his final season was dreadful. Once James stopped playing we fell apart.

Let's not forget losing to Liverpool Reserves in the Cup. If that had happened under Moyes or Martinez, never mind our other managers, we'd never hear the end of it.

Carlo has always been a manager who puts players into a structure that stops them from losing and allows them to go win. Everton didn’t have players to just let them go win the game aside from James in the fleeting moments he was fit. So we didn’t win much.

He put forth some of the worst football we’ve played over the last decade. Every bit as bad as Dyche and Rafael.

Truth is he got really lucky for a spell. We had a four match win streak at one point where everyone was convinced Godfrey was a fullback that was pure BS. We didn’t play well once in that stretch. That’s football.
