Was wondering when people would get around to blaming Brands.
Hes signed 2 players with questionable injury records, Hamez and Delph.
None of the others were considered injury prone prior to joining the club.
But that wont stop people, oh no.
As you say, the whole league is suffering due to a longish season with lots of games crammed into every nook.
Not about injury records at all. I'm talking about energy, players able to get around the pitch at pace with or without the ball (not necessarily sprints, but just energy to keep going), and have that physical power too.
Iwobi, for example, can do it, but lasts about 5 mins. Bernard is tiny. Gomes was slow even before the injury.
Allan, Doucoure - both excellent additions and bring that tenacity. Previously, Gbamin - that was just unfortunate what happened there, but we do know he has that ability to get about from his time in Germany (whether he has that anymore, we may never find out). Then there's Richarlison, but he's a forward.
So yeah, think you've misunderstood my point. Not about injuries, more about energy/stature. I always think we look such a small team in midfield. Also not blaming Brands. But it clearly is a failing of the recruitment that we don't have more players capable of it and he's been in charge of that one way or the other for the past three years now.
