A view from the Opposition - Baggies fan

1. What were your thoughts on your season last year?
The start was terrible and the derby performances poor, the FA Cup semi also left a bitter taste in the mouth. However the finish was possibly one of the strongest we've ever had, we were turning good teams (Newcastle, Sunderland etc...) over for fun, even when we put out weakened teams by the end, a lot of encouragement for this campaign, more so than in the past
2. What were your thoughts on our season last year?
Can understand why Hodgson got the England job based on the structure in place at West Brom. I get the feeling, because of the step up, all you require is a technically good coach, as oppose to an all controlling manager, which most look for. Last season I didn't consider West Brom relegation candidates at any point and was actually surprised you didn't finish a bit higher in the end
3. What are your thoughts on our appointment of Steve Clarke as head coach?
Always a risk appointing someone who has been an assistant for so long, looks as though he's made a good start. As I said earlier, I get the feeling, because of the structure in place at West Brom, you are one of the few clubs in the prem a manager can come straight from a role as an assistant and succeed
4. What are you expecting from Everton this season?
A trophy and to finish above at least Liverpool and Newcastle, probably Tottenham as well. Anything below 6th I'd be very disappointed.
5. What are you expecting from WBA this season?
Clarke to find his feet, somewhere between 9th and 12th
6. Favourite memories against WBA?
Hodgson's head banging
7. Worst memories against WBA?
4-1
8. Team you expect David Moyes to put out?
Same as the team against Villa, though I wouldn't be surprised if Heitinga came into the starting XI for Distin
9. Player you fear the most in our side?
Odemwingie and because of his start Lukaku
10. Finally, score predictions?
1-1, 7 points from the first 3 games would be a satisfying kick off to the season

I would also like to thank you for smashing Aston Vile on Saturday, and I wish you all a very safe journey to The Hawthorns on Saturday.

Not a happy hunting ground for EFC - Vics goal last season broke our duck there with a win for some time - Going way back to 1968 we won 6-2 at the Hawthorns putting on a master show with Ball Harvey Kendall at the Hawthorns only weeks later lost the FA cup to them at Wembly 1-0 in a game we should have easily won many missied chances , Jimmy Husband missed a complete sitter dominated it , & in extra time Geof Astle broke our hearts by sticking his left foot to a deflected clearance to give Westy no chance - so a bit of a bogey team imo at the hawthorns!!!!

1. What were your thoughts on your season last year? Depressingly familiar.
2. What were your thoughts on our season last year? Looked alright, didn't pay too much attention to be honest. Glad you're still in the PL though, my favourite of the Birmingham clubs.
3. What are your thoughts on our appointment of Steve Clarke as head coach? Good appointment.
4. What are you expecting from Everton this season? Improvement on last season.
5. What are you expecting from WBA this season? Carry on cementing themselves as an established PL side.
6. Worst memories against WBA? Jeff Astle, although I wasn't even born. Last season's hiding.
8. Team you expect David Moyes to put out? Similar to the Villa one.
9. Player you fear the most in our side? Lukaku, Odemwingie.
10. Finally, score predictions? Draw. We can't go on the way we are, it's weird.

Cheers fellas.

I have the finished article here. Only I can't post it, or PM it to the admin to place it on here.

If Cena could sign into westbrom.com, I'll pm him through there for him to post here.

Cheers lads.

There were some I couldn't fit in due to me running out of characters!

I had to go and remove a few just to a few fresh posters in there

Apologies to those which took their time to comment but didn't find their way into the article. This topic has been posted on the forum anyway so they will be read (y)

1. Another season losing good players at the start obviously had an effect on team moral, as results proved.

2. Roy Hodgson did a great job. This was probably down to the fact that you didn't have a team full of prima donnas who think they deserve a bigger name.

3. Seems a good appointment. Looks like he will get better results being a No.1

4. With minimum injuries I'm expecting a top 4 finish. 6th place at worst otherwise

5. If you don't draw too many matches I reckon you'll finish comfortably mid table and be a good bet for the top 8. Definitely higher than Villa!

6. Can't think of a favourite moment other than waking up the day after the 1-4 home defeat and not remembering it for a few moments!

7. Losing the 1968 League Cup Final to the late Jeff Astle's goal.

8. Howard, Neville, Jagielka, Distin, Baines, Osman, Pienaar, Gibson, Fellaini, Naismith (or Mirallas) Jelavic

9. Was Scharner as he always seemed to score against us but now I guess it'll be Lukaku

10. Difficult. Definitely going to be our hardest game so far as Steve Clarke is a very astute tactition. I'll err on the side of caution for once and say 1-1

1. What were your thoughts on your season last year?
Always good when when we finish above Liverpool. Started the season awful but picked up afterr Christmas and was one of the form teams in the run up.
2. What were your thoughts on our season last year?
Stable i suppose. I see your team as a mid to lower table side although you have some decent players.
3. What are your thoughts on our appointment of Steve Clarke as head coach?
My thoughts over Steve Clarke heightened after you destroyed Liverpool on the opening day. He should do a decent job for you this season.
4. What are you expecting from Everton this season?
Top six or seven with a good cup run. We have started really well this season which is surpising as we are normally slow out of the blocks.
5. What are you expecting from WBA this season?
Mid table finish. Between 11th and 9th.
6. Favourite memories against WBA?
Saturday coming lol. I can see into the future you see.
7. Worst memories against WBA?
The 1-4 defeat at Goodison in 2010 was awful.
8. Team you expect David Moyes to put out?
Howard, Hibbert or Coleman, Baines, Distin, Jagielka, Osman, Neville, Gibson, Pienaar, Fellaini, Jelavic.
9. Player you fear the most in our side?
Lukaku and Gera.
10. Finally, score predictions?
I am confident you wont repeat the Liverpool scoreline but it will be close. 1-2 to Everton with Lukaku scoring for you, Jelavic and Osman for us.

Good luck for the coming season.

Welcome to the site mate. It would be interesting to read your answers for these questions!

1. What were your thoughts on your season last year?

Our finish didn't reflect our performances to be honest because for large parts we were poor. It was only until the Molineux massacre where things really picked up going into the final strait of the season. Delighted to finish 10th mind you, fantastic. Beating Villa, Stoke and Wolves away was superb.

2. What were your thoughts on our season last year?

I never really paid that much attention until you signed Jelavic who appeared to settle in like a duck to water. Shame you couldn't beat them at Wembley. Was routing for you that day, cheered your opener like an Albion goal. Would have been great to see Dogleashes face had you won.

3. What are your thoughts on your appointment of Steve Clarke as head coach?

Disappointed at first because we tried being ambitious by going after Ranieri and Rangnick. Hughton always looked like a fit but what he wanted we wouldn't subscribe to. He wanted his two assistants and one of his scouts whereas we already have that in place. We go after coaches, and in Clarke we found a very good coach.

4. What are you expecting from Everton this season?

Solidarity whilst flirting in the top half. I'd like to see you win a cup because Moyes' deserves it but I just can't see it happening although you've made a rather impressive start

5. What are you expecting from WBA this season?

To stay up is always my ambition. I'd take 12th/13th/14th, anything higher would be a bonus.

6. Favourite memories against Everton?

Beating you 4-1. Chris Brunt scored a beauty. We were ace that day.

7. Worst memories against Everton?

New years day. Enough said I think

8. Team you expect Steve Clarke to put out?

Foster; Reid, McAuley, Olsson, Ridgewell; Mulumbu, Yacob; Morrison; Odemwingie, Long, Gera

Lukaku on the bench alongside Rosenberg.

9. Player you fear the most in our side?

Jelavic. I know what he's capable of and I can just see him tormenting our two centre halves. Leon Osman is usually decent against us and Steven Pienaar is quite a tricky player.

10. Finally, score predictions?

1-1 - Odemwingie and one of the ex Rangers lads scoring for you

Put me on the spot there, haha!

I go back a little further than many on here so:

Favourite memories against WBA include a 5-4 win at Goodison. I know Bally was playing in the match and we were in amber not blue which suggests it was in the FA Cup. We also tonked you 6 something at The Hawthorns in our championship season 1969-70. Plus of course the match in which we clinched the title 2-0 at our place. I was at all these games.

Worst memory easily is 1968. My first trip to London. My first FA Cup final. I cried.

Hope it's a good game this weekend. Good luck for the rest of the season. Great work on your site...keep it up.
