A Sort of Homecoming

sorry for my ignorance, but what's the ocassion for Reid being at Goodison tomorrow, just a visit or a event even, not sure.

One thing I remember was when Kevin Moran tackled him and he went about 8ft into the air during the cup final defeat, the former still being the only man to be sent off in an FA cup final (Peter Willis I think it was)

Played in Mexico 86, could not prevent Maradona putting out the English at some stage, I think Robson maybe could of picked him four years later, sure he was not included for Italy.

Left for QPR after some great service, became Man City manager then later Sunderland, but here there is only club where he will be revered.

Hes the Stoke assistant manager mate!

Tomorrow, The Grand Old Lady will welcome home one of her sons, a man who realised his destiny and became a Goodison legend. A player who i sometimes wish was still there in the centre of midfield, where the boots used to fly and wasn't a place for the faint hearted. He never shied from a tackle and never gave less than his all for that famous Royal Blue shirt.
A memory that will forever be fresh in my mind, is of the great man standing before me on the pitch in the corner of the Gwladys St. The League Championship trophy held aloft, and as he walked along the touchline he held it up to the mainstand and then the top balcony, before turning and raising it one last time for the masses gathered behind the goal.

Peter Reid, you are one of my heroes.
Peter Reid you gave me my rite of passage.
For the memories that you gave me I Thank You

Tomorrow i shall raise a glass and say, "Welcome back Reidy..Cheers!"

He's old
he's grey
You should've seen him play
