A no win situation

I didn’t hate the line up personally. I think the players that came in really let Moyes down. They ranged from diabolical (McNeil, Travers) to mediocre (Dibling). I think the manager would have expected better.
This - moyes prob made too many changes, but those who came in were just atrocious.

I did not like the shape or the way Moyes used them either, but they should have offered much more, and should have had enough to get us through to the next round.

It was that bad, I don’t want to see a number of them play for Everton again after last nights pathetic performance.

I would love to win any trophy, and in hindsight, we should have started as strong as possible, got the game won, then made the subs for the squad players to get minutes.

Should Moyes have played what everybody thinks was his strongest XI, last night, and Grealish and AN OTHER got injured, being kept out were out for a long period, he would have been slated for playing them. He just can’t win. Accept who we are. We’ve had to live with this for years, and it’s not going to change overnight. We all want success but there’s no guarantee when.
I love Moyes but I think he should’ve played the strongest team last night.

That’s me in a nutshell.

TFG want Euro competition next season. Unfortunately the league holds better odds of gaining a euro place than the unknown risk of cup draws. We all want us to have a go in the cups, but I suppose if we stabilise this season and manage to finish 7th or above then it's a good season, we can then target the league cup when we can attract a better calibre squad player. Until then the league cup will be our bogey competition.

Doesn't change the fact I'm still fuming about last night though!

Serious question after that debacle last night : Will we play our first choice XI in the Fa Cup 3rd round? off the back of a hectic Christmas period.

We play Dec 27th, Dec 30th, 3rd Jan, 7th Jan… and the Saturday of the FA Cup 3rd round is the 10th Jan. Would make more sense to rotate for that rather than last night! (3 whole games in October for us).

YES we should, if we don't win that it's 31 years since we won a pot we have to take cups more seriously.

Probably not

No doubt we will prioritise the next league game as we sit in 13th place after 22 games

It’s not just about a failure to progress in the cup ‘tho, with a shrug of the shoulders and an Everton that.

Players like Branthwaite have got every right to want success in their careers. Same goes for potential signings.

Results like last night, make us unattractive to both.

Mad take, there was no need whatsoever to make as many changes as he did. The players don’t need a rest and most of the first 11 ended up playing anyway except for Pickford and Gana ffs, the chance for them to be injured was real anyway!
Moyes set us up to fail, whether knowingly or not and that’s why he didn’t win in the game or with the fans.
I hope wor Davey isn’t planning on training any of the first team, just in case they get injured… Might be best if they all started to sleep at Finch Farm throughout the season as a precaution.

Moyes started a far stronger team at home to Mansfield, which really is crackers.

The ghost of Bill Kenwright, right here.

I’m just looking at the percentages. The league is the easiest path to Europe. It also brings more prize money for better players.

Ironically, it would be easier to win a lower tier European competition than a domestic cup.

it's not a surprise when nearly a quarter of the champions league clubs are in the same cup, it's way stronger than the conference league

It didnt make sense when the next games nearly a week away

Seriously gotta change the name back to the European cup, its one of strange gripes I have.

I mean they call it champions league, yet how many are champions..
