A no win situation

Another way of looking at this debate is to think how we would react if any of those best 6 or 7 players we had out last night got injured. I'm thinking of likes of Jordan, Ndiaye, Grealish, Gueye, KDH etc. I'm pretty sure we would all be very disappointed because we know it will hurt the quality of our team because they are good players.

So just think what the impact is when you leave out every single one of those players, on top of the fact our best defender is still coming back from injury. We all were very disappointed when JB got hurt, and it definitely has made things difficult for us.

Our best players are all significantly better than the next in line at their positions. There's a big impact every time one of them misses out, nevermind 7 of them on the same day. I would like to say this will be a lesson learned, but Moyes has made this error in cup competitions so many times that I can only assume these games aren't a priority to him.

Really happy we don't have any more cup games, stop them from getting injured.

We should field the U21s for the FA cup too, just to be on the safe side. /s
If we get a bad away draw in the third round then our season is effectively over in January as well. When you have winnable cup draws, then take them seriously because you might not get another one.

I'm almost at the point where I'd like us to get a home draw against a good top flight side, so we won't get a complacent performance from a reserve team.

Again as I said earlier that’s fair enough , what’s our price now ?

I don’t think We’d have won it but I don’t imagine palace and the horse punchers thought they would win what they did . making wholesale changes that were a key factor in us going out has removed that 5% chance you quoted .

I’m just tired of consistently going out of cup comps early . There is absolutely a mentality right through this club that has brought us to the level where it seems to be acceptable that we shouldn’t try because we basically won’t win anyway
Slightly less than 5%.

And we better not train in-between games just in case someone gets injured
Thought moyes would make a couple of changes dibling for either of the wide men and rest idrissa Beto or Barry is really a toss of a coin
I've never bought all the we are going for it crap from managers chairman ,ceo's and the players heard it too many times
To field a side a lot weaker than the Mansfield tie absolutely beggars belief

Why bother supporting us then?

Genuinely? No trophies for 30 years and you're being fussy?

Weve never won it in our history, I'd have loved to have had a crack at it.
The league campaign and the FA Cup are the key ones. It’s not so much about being fussy as having this tournament as the least important one.

Of course, if you get a lucky draw and make it to the late stages you change the priority, but at this stage it’s not worth getting too fussed one way or the other.

You take my point though , we had a 5% chance of winning it according to the bookies and now we have zero .

We’ve approached cups like this for years and unsurprisingly we don’t win . Feels like maybe it’s no a coincidence that a host of teams from Wigan to Swansea , pompey to Cardiff , Boro to palace have all managed it since we did .

So we prioritise the FA cup but not the league cup ? Why the difference , what happens in the 3rd if we get the RS or arsenal away.

I’m in no way suggesting we were going to win that cup , but we’ve had a relatively feel good start and a decent winnable albeit away tie but we decide to make 7 changes like we’ve got a champions league game in Madrid to worry about .

Because it’s arguably the most important cup competition on football. The prize money is bigger, it is massive historically, etc.

The League Cup started out as some kind of football pools competition or something.
