That’s the first Everton goal I properly remember.

Shows you what an astute manager Kendall was. The previous summer we’d suffered the devastating loss of Lineker to Barcelona. I thought we’d never challenge for the title that year with the recruitment of Power and Clarke. How wrong I was.

...spot on. It was all about buying players that blend and fit the playing style. Van de Hauwe played most of that season as CB, what a top class defender he was. Kendall went out and bought a similar athlete in Power to slot in and he was outstanding.
