Player Valuation: £70m
As most of you know in top flight football it seems that there are the same teams with money competing with the top four.
Will there ever come a time when the FA will introduce a points handicap for teams outside of that bracket to make the breakthrough which would be competitive. We along with a number of clubs would surely be in with a better chance to win the Premiership title.
How many of you agree with this?

I think that the playing field should be made more fair but only by introducing Financial Fair Play or home grown quotas on squads. I wouldn't like the idea of a points handicap, though.

isn't that like cheating to win the premiership?

Clubs with money win things - simple as!!!!!!!

If every team was owned by a billionaire it would just make the players richer and the billionaires slightly poorer. Accountants will always find a way around financial fair play, like chelski do with their 300 kids playing all around the globe or city with their sponsorships deal. Rich clubs will probably raise their spending power through financial fair play by selling players grossly overpriced to lesser clubs but will allow them to pay on the never, never ie Everton buy back Rodwell for 20 million pounds but we pay an initial fee of 5 mill with the rest being paid over ten years if they collect at all, that gives them a profit of 20 mill to add to the figure for profit and hence a bigger spend on transfers, simple but would work as long as they can sustain transfer fees that they now are never to be collected, don't know how that would work in the real business world but if they are prepared to take the hit then up them I suppose.

The playing field has never been even, we where once the rich team ourselves, what goes around comes around and its only the longevity of your rise to the top that matters.

Handicapping teams because they are rich would just move them closer to a European super league and whilst we would like to win the premiership would we want to do it by beating lesser teams and then would we want to join this elitist league.

Ever decreasing circle and should not try to fix what has probably been broken from the start.......

Not for me no, wouldn't feel the same winning the title knowing we effectively had a few points headstart.

A salary cap and the abolition of the existing transfer market in favour of a draft system alongside youth academy focus would be one option. So you sign players on three year contracts or something, after those three years they become unsigned and certain clubs have first option to sign as a Category A player on top wages, then Category B, C etc.

Can't be bothered thinking it out properly as nothing will ever change.

Nope, it would be too uncertain, the league is quite predictable, but not as much as some like to make out, hence why bookies offer odds. In a system like this, Palace probs would have won it this season. No disrespect to Palace, but that would be awful, because at the end of the day, the best team over a season should finish first, and the worst should finish last. imagine getting relegated because the handicapper underestimated a load of teams.....

Sorry mate, daft idea.

Absolutely not. It wouldn't feel right, the sense of achievement would not be there.

Plus how would you determine the handicap, money doesn't always buy immediate success, it can in the long term if managed correctly.

The only thing that will stop these astronomically high transfers is capping it. However City have just had a 'Cap' put on their spending to £49mill haha when was the last time anyone outside of a few select Clubs have ever spent anywhere near £49mill in one transfer window? We have hit a period in time where money talks end of.

...the bookies have handicap betting at the beginning of the season based on expectation. The likes of Man Utd, Man City or Chelsea start on scratch or a low handicap, whilst newly promoted might start on 50 points. I always think its a real indicator of how your team have done, and in recent years we have been around the top.

Basically it's been spoiled with the money poured in by Chelsea and City why am made up Chelsea never won anything this season an they started this trend.

Salary cap would have to be pan european. Otherwise there would be no point. And that wont happen.

Also, a handicap system is available. Just make the current champions hire you know who for their manager.

Equalisation is needed buggered to how you would implement it. Financial fair play works of ya earnings giving bigger clubs a huge leg up it isn't really a solution and a salary cap would have to be European wide

I think its a terrible idea.

Ive no problem with rich teams buying the league, after all, I do recall a certain team being called the Bank of England at 1 point.

I would also get rid of FFP.

Everytime I go on RAWK they are crying about the amount of money City are spending, lets not be RAWK.

Not keen mate, I hope it'll never happen.
The concept is mad to be honest.
