Thats why Anichebe was sold. Not sleeping for eight hours a night!

Bobby is right though.

This man is brilliant. Its more about the club too. This you can tell from him.

Martinez could not be more friendly, more welcoming. But there is an intensity about the man that soon leaves you feeling he is managing you too.

That's a superb observation. He does come across that way. He always has the upperhand in dictating the tone and controlling the content of interviews. Very astute feller.

Everton, and all connected with them, should be mightily pleased Roberto is our BOSS....because he is BOSS.

Best way to compete with the financial mega-dons is with brains....he has them a-plenty.

Handling the media. That comes from his business degree.

He's putting out his 'strategic vision' for the club.

Its the sort of thing you see in companies.

This is why Dave. I am not concerned. When Martinez wants to spend money on players he wants. He will.

Plus unlike Wigan days he's got a bigger pond to fish for players now.

That stood out to me too. If you think about it, he never seems put off or stumped by a question, he always ends up making whoever asked it laugh or feel content.

one aside though....I used to always buy the Observer on a sunday and the sports pullout mag was excellent. Soon after Moyes took over they ran an article on him and in fairness my impression of him from that article was much like I have of Bobby now. Forward thinking and meticulous with a really fresh idea of how to run a football club day to day.

Anybody else remember that piece?

I remember that article, too. I think it took place in the 2nd half of his first full season when, let's face it, we all loved him to bits. One thing I remember from that article was his relationship with Irvine - I wonder if after Irvine left it made Moyes more conservative, I don't know.

As for Martinez, he did absolutely the right thing in reading up on his history. I hope he read the Spanish version that the Ruleteros helped to produce.

I agree. His great skill lies in appearing to be 'too nice for football.' That makes people drop their guard, become more receptive to him. That gives him space to express his ideas in an environment that listens. Especially since it's clear he's smart.

A withering stare may say 'I'm in charge' but it doesn't lead to any sort of meaningful dialogue. You just want to get away from people like that.

You'd want someone like Martinez to lead you into battle.

Its called

NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming)

I'm sure Martinez is a practioner of it. Or he uses it on others around him.

Positive.
