He was brilliant, but his record in his sport is still nothing to what Taylor has done in his. Just my opinion, if a tennis player or someone won as many world titles as The Power has, people would roll the red carpet out, but because Taylor is involved in a sport which is stereotypically seen as a fat man's alcoholic sport were you don't run for miles on end he will never get the same recognition

i'm not sure how the world champpionship works in darts. is it held every year? 14 years being champion is pretty special.

I can think of the likes of Federer, Woods, Schumacher, Armstrong, Phelps

You can add Taylor to this list, he is peerless in his sport, regardless of how much competition some will think hes had, hes still had the best in his sport competing against him and has still consistenly destroyed them all.

Some people have massive, massive talent, like say O'Sullivan for example, but never really achieve what they should. But you gotta give credit to Taylor, no matter how much of a cant he is.

To be fair though it's much less likely (impossible?) for someone to be at the top of an athletic sport for 15/20 years. Golf is slightly different but certainly others have a much shorter shelf life. I mean Usain Bolt won't be around in 10 years time (I don't suppose) but his legacy as one of the greatest athletes ever is already secured.

Well yes clearly, but then they are judged on their careers, if they only had a 10 year career and hardly ever got beat, then its only fair they are judged the best of their time. As for best ever, thats a different arguement.
