Not trying to defend these here, but Hertha Berlin in a city of 3m+ with their stadium have lots of potential. The club just hasn't managed to get it together for varying reasons. It's not solely on 777.

They buy clubs where they can build value (hopefully). They don't have enough money to buy top clubs.

I don't know anything about the guys other than the cocaine and the structured settlements, but if they're buying clubs on the cheap they likely plan to make money by selling them.

They might post losses, but would hope to build the value of the club to make money on the back end.
