6 + 2 Point Deductions

It's all history, all in the past and something we can't change however much we complain. We need to simply take strength from the anger and frustration caused by it's unfairness and stick it right back up the PL's backside by getting our sh!t together where it matters...on the pitch. Sort that out and everything else naturally follows.

Whatever happens to City is irrelevant as they have the structure and financial capacity to ride whatever comes their way.

As for Burnley, let them waste legal fee's with their half-assed campaign.....it's a complete non-starter.

We will settle out of court with Burnely.

We just haven't reached their asking price as of yet.

We have probably made a few offers to them already this year.

Say 5 foreign players max in the team, 2 local youth players who've come through your system since the start and the other 4 players have to be the nationality of the league they play in. This way you'll get clubs having to actually develop players instead of just buying success and teams will have a semblance of identity too. I await the brexit derogatory quips about my suggestion
The quality of the league would absolutely implode and the argument that the richer successful English clubs don't develop players because of foreign players has been completely disproven.

I disagree. You'll get the cream of the foreign talents and local talent that has been developed and given a chance to play. Not every foreign player is quality after all

The last time there were direct foreign limits in the top flight was pre-1995. Compare the development and technical quality of English players then to now. It's night and day.

The same goes for the overall technical quality of player.

Those limits were 3 foreign players only so 5 is fine. If you think the Premier League is more technical now I respectfully disagree. Tactically it's better and its faster but this season for example set piece goals are in abundance so not endorsing technical football. Not to mention the loss of the technical number 10 from the older generations of football too

There were of course many technically excellent players but there was also a plethora of players who had genuinely poor first touches and made a career of being able to cover ground, hit or run for channel balls and boot people. Does a side with the technical ability of Wimbledon manage a 14 season stay in the modern top flight?

The fact that there are more set piece goals this season is not a marker of technique within the game - back in the day it tended to be the more technically gifted players on free kicks and corners. A tactical shift and renewed emphasis on the value of set pieces by some teams over the last few months is not an indicator or measure of individual player technique.

In the same way the decision by many not to use a 'technical 10' is a tactical decision rather than a lack of players with the ability to play that role.

My favourite era in terms of the game being entertaining is probably the late 1980's and through the 90's but In terms of player technical ability the overall average standard now across players is vastly improved. More so for English players.

There is zero evidence that imposing foreign player limits has a beneficial impact on the technical standard of young English players.

Wimbledon were better then they were given credit for actually. Certainly better than Stokes Pulis and Burnley under Dyche who managed to stay in the Premier League for a fair few seasons. Wimbledon were better than Brentford too. I disagree about the English players being better technically as there's no-one as good as Hoddle, Waddle, Beardsley, Gazza, Barnes, Le Tissier etc technically now

Players aren’t on the sauce after games these days and not eating a fry for brekky the day of the game.

All the off field improvements would have happened and the general standard of English players would have improved regardless of limiting foreigners

I'm not even sure the standard has improved to be honest. The game is more athletic now which suits England as we're an athletic nation with our Caribbean and African descent proportion of people. Technically there's no English player better than the players I mentioned above. The reason England are more stronger on the international stage is because the traditional power houses of the international game aren't as strong as in the past. Plus the lack of genuine strikers shows England aren't necessarily producing better players when the likes of Welbeck are seen as a genuine contender for tye World Cup squad
