6 + 2 Point Deductions

You should represent Everton at the next appeal hearing. Countering an allegation of over spend during the last 3 years with the argument that Everton are massive and have won more 1st division titles than some other teams - and if someone is over 50 or so they might even remember a couple - is bound to sway them to reduce any sanctions and immediately reject compensation claims.

And it’s 4 runner up spots in div2, a runner up in the 3rd tier and a Johnstone Paint Trophy 3rd place - get your insults right.

What the hell is the 3rd tier, was that a Sunday league or something……

Thank God we've finally got the view from Jim from Leeds. I've been waiting since the judgement and was thinking I was never going to hear it. Now that I have, I've seen the error of my ways and no longer believe that this penalty was a predetermined stitch up in a naked attempt to prevent a government mandated regulator and that the whole thing was made up on the spot with no clear rules or decision making processes, it is in fact justice.
Thank you Jim, for your totally objective analysis as a supporter of a team who was relegated whilst we were not. In many ways you are the hero we need in this dark time.

Indeed, this is the sort of honesty we need from supporters of lower level teams, and I support Jim in his endeavours to drag his team out of whatever league they are currently in…if anyone knows……

I’ll be honest mate, we don’t count runners up in anything. Either win it or don’t is our motto……

Surely this brings the whole thing into disrepute?

Nah mate, the commission clearly working through a termed of reference process of transparent clearly defined system of due process, benefiting all equally.

More holes than a Swiss cheese this punishment. Hopefully we’ve engaged some competent legal to drive a horse and cart through this nonsense

Doesnt it explain how those who tired to take down the league and footballing pyramid got a collective fine of essentially 10p and we got a points deduction of quarter of a survival quota.

Can’t wait to see the individualised range of punishment City might get, a hard choice between having to travel to a game on a coach and a good feet tickling.

I disagree. A sporting advantage is an on field advantage.

A financial advantage is spending more money than others.

What you've just described is a financial advantage.
Then why do posters talk about the top 6 and why we can't compete with them? Surely they only have a financial and not a sporting advantage.

We all know the truth a financial advantage = a sporting advantage.

Piss poor management of the club may well reduce the sporting advantage but it doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

As a leeds fan, I think I have 4 takes on this.

1 - The 10 pts mean very little this year. There are 3 terrible teams in the league, you'll stay up with 30 points probably. Can't see the penalty resulting in relegation.

2 - You broke FFP. You did so knowingly and then tried to cover it up with dodgy accounting. The penalty is fair enough - You got caught and lied about it. Suck it up.

3 - Your big problem isnt the 10 pts, its Burnley and Leicester. Leeds, Southampton etc.....have very small claims, which amount to a couple of million for being 'cheated' out of a place in the league, but neither resulted in a substantial impact. Burnley and Leicester however..........You could easily be looking at a couple of hundred million compensation and all the fun and games that come with that.

4 - This is for the 21-22 season. Your still not compliant with FFP today, so need to fix that pronto or you'll be proper hammered. As a result, there is an urgent need to sell players and reduce the wage bill - and forget about strengthening. I think this (and the 3rd point) are your main issues. The 10 pts won't mean a whole lot and is short term - a big compensation bill and a wage bill that is hugely out of kilter with your revenue are longer term problems that could bury you for a good long time.
Good ebening, Jim.

Toffee writing class... 🤣

What is mindboggling is the disgraceful way some people jump to false conclusions because what someone else says doesn't fit in.

That's childish.

Lots of what people say on here doesn't fit in, theres all sorts saying crazy stuff in all types of threads

But only a few get repetitively called out as RS, and I'd have to assume it's because they see the same thing I do. it's as much how you write and in what threads you write it, as it is what you write. Tbh the dismissal of the claims as just people not liking a different opinion is as tired a response from said posters as you can get. It would be nice if these things were done in a more original manner, but they all seem to bore people to the point of insanity like Keiran.

Not if you sign a document telling the lender you are not using it to fund the stadium project.
The loan document can say whatever it wants but once that cash hits Everton’s account and is mixed in it’s not distinguishable from the cash Moshiri was putting in. It’s more a point that the rules are nonsense because it seems we could have exactly the same balance sheet position but be penalised because an interest bearing loan is for working capital and an interest free shareholder loan is for the stadium build rather than vice versa (admittedly I don’t know how the stadium ownership/financing is structured). Seems completely arbitrary.

Everton won't be paying compensation to anyone. Everton don't make the rules and don't decide when punishments are meted out.
Those clubs, including yours, went down because they weren't good enough and Everton were only down there with them because they couldn't spend without PL hand holding for 3 years for all the good that did.

Panel that docked Everton points will decide compensation claims

Panel that docked Everton points will decide compensation claims
The same independent panel that docked Everton 10 points for breaching Premier League financial rules will decide on any financial compensation claims from rival clubs.

Leeds and Leicester - who were relegated to the Championship last season - along with Burnley - who were relegated in 2022 before returning - are weighing up whether to press ahead with a claim against the Toffees.

Had the 10-point deduction been applied in 2021-22, Burnley would have stayed up, as would Leicester last season if it had counted then. Leeds would have finished a place higher, but would still have gone down.

It has been reported Everton could potentially face claims for tens of millions of pounds.

The clubs have 28 days from the date of the ruling to decide.

If they do, barrister David Phillips KC, High Court judge His Honour Alan Greenwood, and chartered accountant Nick Igoe (former West Ham finance director), would hear their arguments.

In last week's ruling, Phillips KC referenced applications for financial compensation from a number of clubs, saying he was "satisfied" that they had "potential claims".

Everton have 14 days from the ruling to lodge an appeal.
