Watching Chelsea and the tykes tonight you cant help but be drawn into the romance of the cup, how entertaining was the game, and reassuring that billions cant overcome soirit and determination!

Feeling pretty smug that the club who wanted it more triumped over the odds to bring down possibly the most decorated side in Europe. O suddenly realised, that with Man U, Chelski, Aresnal out of the cup that a Eropean qualifying position this season is going to be the most difficult this season compared to any other in recnt memory.

Truth be told the top five are only going to qualify for Europe, now i know we are all hoping for fourth but with a huge gap now appearing between, sixth and seventh it looks as though its between us Villa, and the [Poor language removed] for potential european spots be it Uefa or CL.

It certainly maks the season more interesting, but the at least uefa cup spot i thought we secured last week by beating Pompey and City is no longer there!

Cue end of season melee, tension, anxiety!

I for one would be happy as we speak for a Uefa cup spot! What do you feel should be a realistic aim when it comes to quailfying for eueope this season?

With the RS playing better than us at the moment and Villa's easier run in i think we may well end up in sixth at the end of the season. At least we had the foresight to enter for the Intertoto this year, which should be an easy two leg tie into the UEFA.
The best case situation sees us and Villa filling the 5th and 6th spots with the RS collapsing and finishing 6th! that would teach them for not entering themselves to the intertoto, hopfully bancrupt them and send them into a Leeds UTD like spiral!

Now I haven't though of that they haven't enter intertoto, everyone think they are playing well at the moment but is not true they just happen to play against 3 weak team so they got 3 points, they would drop point soon when they face a slightly better team.

Well im happy the likes of barnsley an pompy went through, as its nice for somone els to win somthing.

But from evertons point of view, it would have been better if one of the top three won the cups to give more european places.

Well we'll have to keep our run going an finish in the top 5....COYB.

If Chelsea stay in and play Portsmouth in the Final there would still be extra place for the league as Portsmouth won the Carling Cup, but now we would have to get into Top 5 to get into Europe.

No, liverpool need to finish top5 to get into europe whereas we can still get there from 6th through the intertoto. Maybe even seventh if England get the extra european place from FIFA fair play.
Trust me id rather finish 5th and wrap it up and im quielty confident we will but we still have some options should we fail to do so.

Intertoto could well be our salvation. If pushed, i would say the RS should finish fourth and are favourites. Think we can get fifth, but it will be tight between us and Villa.

5th would be an excellent achievement for the team. My worry is that Villa are looking pretty good at the moment, so we've got to win today to keep daylight between us and them.

i think everyones forgetting one other way back into europe ( i believe it is anyways), returning champions of the UEFA cup. that option is a longshot at best, as i can't see us snotting fiorentina if we can barely beat sunderland right now, but should we somehow pull out a win over them, the only other clubs making me nervous really are bayern and psv.
