I am ecstatic with 9 points yielded, it is a fine sign that a side can play averagely and still pick up wins, but can we continue like this? and why is it that suddenly we are doing the scoring late on, when last season or the season before we had the habit of leaking goals late on.

Has Moyes reverted to type and is getting the squad super fit, translating to the full 90 minutes of effort every time? or are we capitalising on the opposition suffering "a touch of the yobo's" (by that I mean severe lapses in concentration)

Anyway, how long before a paper comments on scousers stealing the points, yet again?

The only thing that hasnt changed from the start of the season is our attacking threat. We are very dangerous going forward -- Saha, Yak, Cahill, Fellaini, Osman, Anichebe, Vaughan, then you have Pienaar and Arteta with the threat of creating something.

Its just taken a while for the defence to sort itself out.

But the midfield is lost -- no shape, too many changes, adapting to no DM, injuries, players off form.

We take our chances which is all you can ask for. Goals win games.

The never say die attitude is back in the team again. The style comes next, once the swagger develops.

I say this as in the past we may have settled for 1 point after levelling late after being being one down. On other occasions we would have protected the lead at 2-1 but we pushed again. I sense the hunger is back.

I would not be surprised if the first goal changes Lescott's season for the better.

Saha is showing why Moyes signed him.

Confidence will flood into the side and the midfield will raise their game (drawbacks of all our midfield (excluding Osman) is that they seem to be confidence players) and help out both defence and Attack more effectively.

Jag's is turning into a better player than even I was first thinking.

And finally hopefully Yak has still got his competitive streak and will start firing them in as he will want more goals than Saha.

All in all.

Gazdalf your optimism is to be admired.....or possibly i should feel pity for you. That game was abysmal. Moyes is strangling this club. the football is just so disgraceful to watch. We give the ball away all the time we don't seem to play as a team as the players don't know where to find other players when clearing or passing. Let me ask you a question. How many clear cut chances have been given to our strikers recently? Not in the last week, month or season but in the last 5 seasons? Go on try to think of one. Exactly! None. This football is strangling the club and the players are devoid of confidence. Look how many times a player turned back when already past a player. It really is pitiful and hs to change.

watch the osman larissa goal, that moyes was manager for, then tell me about optimism and pity.

the side is in transition, carsley is missed, and will remain to be missed until the side plays differently or he is replaced.

nothing is a substitute for actual competitive games.

Saha and Fellaini are both new to the everton ranks, consider how other new signings have fit in at their respective clubs.

Larissa.... oh i remember that.... way back when. There is no excuse for such a bad display today. We constantly gave the ball away and had no confidence. We got lucky at the end for 4 minutes. We need to be better.

its a 90 min' game it do'snt matter when you score the winner 1st or 91st min, just as long as we do

I must be watching a different team for the past 5 years then (3-0 against the [Poor language removed], 7-1 against sunderland, 4th place finish, to name a few).

We can play good football IMO and we have done (a yard-dog team dont just end up consecutive top 10 finishes with a Champions League position by playing hoof ball). But we're also capable of playing awful, are capabilities limited, never consistant for an entire season and have a small squad.

To be honest too, the players have to take blame for how the perform. Its not like Moyes says "Alright lads, just kick it anywhere, alright?". Movement, how the players react to the ball, how good they are at seeing a pass -- its all down to the players on the park. Lescott today was woeful, aimlessly kicking the ball to nobody. Why? A) because he's a limited player B) nobody was moving to him C) he's been told to just boot the ball up field. Personally...I cant see it being C to be honest.

Why is the football strangling the club who are 7th and winning by playing terribly? Why are the players devoid of confidence after winning 3 on the bounce by playing [Poor language removed]?

Some people just want their cake and eat it ie turn Everton into the new Arsenal in terms of playing beautiful footy and winning games. I'd love as much as the next man but I'd take 3 points and a [Poor language removed] performance than a kick in the teeth any day of the week.

We'v had a poor start to the season, An now things are picking up. Results first, perfoemance come next.

Please get a [Poor language removed] grip!! some people are never happy!!

What a game.........love'd every min of it!

Ha, I only loved the last 10 minutes of it !!

It's arguably the only positive from the last few games. We've played dismally yet have come away with three wins. It's often said that winning ugly is a sign of a good team. I just hope the performances improve before long as you sense we can't carry on playing like this.

I watched the game last night, and i honestly thought we didnt play as bad as a lot of people made out, i think we contained West Ham very well i dont think we looked a vulnerable as a lot of people say. The defence look strong and resiliant, i thought Lescott, Cahill, and Vic played very well, Saha impressed me immensely even before the goals in terms of his improving adjustment in t he team while Rodwell did well, and is a great threat going forward.

Away games are all about containment of the home side and being clinical if oppurtunity come, we were! Other positives include Vaughn and people are being harsh on Arteta form what i hear he was woefully ill yesterday but turned out for the team.

In many ways im happy that we are grinding out results and earning the right to win games by battleing which had been woefully missing form our first six games this season.

Agree, we have to improve our football and will hopefully do just that. However, with points comes confidence and we're doing that very well at the moment. Anyone on here who thinks that the West Ham fans are happier than us after yesterday's performance? Rather win the ugly way, than to lose playing good football. Point before pleasure at any time!
