2026 FIFA World Cup

I think the group stage at least is going to be an interminable bore. None of the top nations will fail to qualify. Remember Germany at the last two World Cups? Something similar is almost impossible this time as 8 third-placed sides progress. All the major nations are playing for is placement in the knockout draw.

The last 32 might be interesting because at least there is jeopardy there in a one-off match. But we'll have sat through nearly three weeks of rubbish by that point.

The climate doesn't help either, meaning many games will be slow.

I'll be pleasantly surprised if we get four or five classic matches out of all of this.

A quarter is probably an exaggeration, but yeah a few of the matches at the current prices aren’t going to draw full crowds. But this isn’t totally new at world cups and the US isn’t using any 45k capacity stadiums like previous versions to cover that up.

I wouldn't be surprised, didn't say it was definitely going to happen. However, the number of reasons to not go to games is still increasing.

I tell you what though, it will be absolutely hilarious if there are some major games that are nowhere near full.

Saw the picture of the 18th tee at the golf last week, and although only on Thursday, it was completely empty, not a person in sight, other than 2 of the best golfers in the world and their caddies. Where was it played, right where Trump decided to put a gold statue of himself.

I mean, I don't think anyone owes Panini a perpetual contract or anything, it's simply that Infantino is very quick to monestise absolutely everything to the detriment of any tradition whatsoever. His ticket pricing defence is worthy of being hung at a city gate. He's vile.
He’s the sort of guy who would charge Rohl if he wanted to loiter in the bathroom to take sneaky photos!

I think some of yall underestimate exactly how many countries' fans will be represented by American citizens. Mexico always gets a home crowd in the US due to the sheer number of Mexican Americans in the country. As hostile as our current government is to non white citizens, it doesn't take away from the fact that these people are here and will show up at games. That goes for more than just Mexico also.

The thing is Trump honestly couldn't handle a failed Tournament, he would go to any lengths to fill stadiums, even if that meant giving tickets away. He'd do it and justify it as another 'gracious' act
for his peace prize..

It would end up being a half and half scarf tournament.
