2026 FIFA World Cup - General Chat

Let’s take that frustration with this World Cup and turn it into anger guys. We can release that anger by channelling it into World Cup threads on this, our favourite website, to antagonise patriots of all nationalities to attack each other for your viewing pleasure.
Bringing a whole new dimension of entertainment to this quadrennial gala.

Don't tell FIFA or they will try to charge us to access GOT.

Am I the only one actually looking forward to it?
I wasn't due to the 2 D.....bags not deserving any of my time, but I just noticed a Scottish Brewery are giving away free beer to Gingers, and now i'm well up for it.

No Ginger hair or any Scottish ties ( Bar the wonderful thread on this Forum ) but what a way to kick off a tournament.

Up those Ginger locked Irn-Bru slurpers 👊

With 48 teams it seems this tournament will be two weeks of international friendly-quality matches and then the tournament will actually begin.
There will be a lot of one sided games for sure, but I reckon most of them will be hugely competitive. Some teams will be going hell for leather to boost goal difference to be one of the best 3rd place teams, others will be giving it all hoping they can manage two draws to qualify.

I still think 32 is the ideal number, but I am still looking forward to seeing minnows like Curucao, Haiti and Cabo Verde getting a chance to shine on the biggest stage

People are having a tough time with the idea that early games are going to be competitive for teams that aren’t favorites to win it all. More than likely Ecuador and Ivory Coast won’t be playing into mid July, but that groups game is going to be hotly contested, just as an example.

No, plenty of people are despite all the disgracefulness surrounding it. The football figures to be tremendous and once the matches start there still will be fantastic moments that make everyone remember why they love this tournament so much.

It’s just that the people turned off by it have this weird urge to tell everyone.

Honestly I think there’s enough quality in the world to support 48 now. The issue with this one, imo at least, is the three hosts all got bids but Concacaf got the same number anyway. Haiti, Curaçao and Panama are all in the bottom 6 or so of weakest teams.

Everybody should acknowledge what a farce it is, Whether you watch it or not. Ignore it and you're giving them the rights to do it over and over again.

It's an utter disgrace and I'll keep on about that, everybody should. but I know I'll probably be watching it, I wont be staying up stupid hours or going out of my way, but I know it will catch me at some point.
