At this point the below has about as much relevance as the Cucomartina Cup.

If it stops the idiots from across the park "celebrating" another year passed when they visit GP, it'll do for me.

Can't get my head around fans not wanting a trophy. Modern football confuses me.

Bloody hell. Dat start tho! Still, we'd best take it in the chin - unlike THAT lot last season, who then went on to win 4-3 at the Emirates and they were all like "Ahhhh yeah, it's our yeeeeear, we like tough starts!"

Hang on, why did I type that scouse? I meant: "Awight mate, it's our year innit? Eas-ey easy-ey, Ladbible FTW!"

Playing the better teams early on is not so bad. Potentially we could have 5/6 new players in the 1st XI so I'd expect us to be up and down anyway. From mid September onwards we have a better run up till Xmas. The team should settle by then and start racking the points up. If by Xmas time we're comfortably in the top ten, negotiated the Europa league group I expect us to kick on big time second half of the season. I'd go as far to say if we're still in the league cup by then, the drop is even easier to digest. Add to this Koemans last season at soton with his own players they were formidable after the turn of the year.

It's not that hard to understand to be honest. I see that trophy as unnecessary fixture congestion which gets in the way of achieving something actually worthwhile.

I place an away win at Swansea in the league above the League Cup as a whole.

I also genuinely don't give a toss what the RS do or think. They wore T-shirts supporting a racist.

Truth be told Ste, if we qualify in the Europa we should be on a decent enough run to be ready to open the season.

Around about 10 games before October though, jeez.

Chelsea away is the horror fixture their, then again Hazzard won't be playing and Costa looks offski, be interesting if we do sell Lukaku and he struggles early on going into that game, can imagine the away lads giving him a shedload of abuse.

The rest of them games are always tight affairs - tbh Chelsea away is usually too.

..as I posted yesterday, the Reds complained at their fixtures for the start of last season but it turned out to be an ideal time to play the likes of Chelsea away. Regardless, 20 points at Christmas is safety, 25 points is decent, 25+ is exciting.

Didn't Liverpool beat Chelsea and Arsenal away in the first five games last year?

Caught them cold.
