Tough start, but it will all even out after 38 games

I don't understand what people want in all honesty?

If it's a tough start, people moan.

If it's a tough run-in, people moan.

If it's a tough Xmas period, people moan.

Personally don't think it is a bad thing to have them five games up first. Considering we only lost one of those games last season.... That's just me though.

Also if we want to finish top four, we do actually have to beat some decent teams.

That was my thought, if we take Europa seriously we should be match sharp and ready before the others and may surprise a few in the early games.

The Europa early competitive games may help us here. It's as tough as you could imagine but with transfer window still open until after first three games you can guarantee some peculiar results.

The players will see this and know they are straight into it; no easing your way into this season. Get the squad sorted early, no distractions and late requests to move and get into them.

But, this is Everton....I know.

Made up with that. Forces us to get to the required standard quickly early on with the opportunity to catch some of these teams cold. They'll be free swings for us. Far better than the usual second half of the season where momentum gets disjointed every other week because we play title chasing City or Chelsea away then an Anfield Derby. Get them all out the way, keep ourselves round the top then pile the surge on late season.

Exactly. I'd rather not play them in the middle of a great run and we go all Everton and get hammered.

Spurs are slow starters; city are always there for the taking regardless of the talent they have; Chelsea, strong this season after a bad start so let's see; Utd under Jose are terrible.

We'll beat them all but lose to stoke, pure Everton

We'll batter Stoke Chris, a nice, sunny August afternoon and send those troglodytes home soundly thrashed
