He actually points to the centre circle before remembering why he was paid so much to come back.

Corrupt as eff.
That's just not the case. He blew the whistle before Ferguson headed it in. I told my dad at the time not to get excited. He gave a foul at every corner during the match. I don't think he was corrupt, I just think he'd lost his bottle. I'm a bit bored of people going on about this, we were the worse team over the 2 legs by a long way. The general management of the club over several decades is the reason why we are in the position we are, let's look at improving that rather than harping on about perceived injustices from the past.

Rant over!!

Out of all the clubs in the qualifying rounds, why would FIFA " fix " it for Everton to go out, when we`re a bigger club than Villareal for a start.

Let`s face it, it`s not as if it we were Barcelona in the qualifying rounds.

As @orly said, we were beaten by a very good side in the home game.

Could it not be as simple as Collina having a very over inflated opinion of himself and making a massive mistake.

The Everton board lost that for us that summer by failing to make funds available to buy players and strengthen our chances. Budgeting for 40 points still.

Kroldrop, Arteta and Neville for £10M, when we should have been investing to grab a fleeting chance of making an enormous leap.

WE still had a legitimate goal disallowed. Regardless of who you think was the better team.

'Harping on about' actual injustices and looking to improve aren't mutually exclusive btw.

Although I agree with you both we should let this go already, I do have the following points:

we were the worse team over the 2 legs by a long way.

We have had it where we have played better over two legs and still gone out, sometimes caused by a dodgy decision against us too (like the semi against Man city). If you just look at it from that incident maybe we could have gotten one against the head to balance things out.

Still would have went out regardless of the decision,

Hard to say about this, we were battering them come the end. Maybe if the goal was allowed they might have snapped out of their slump and we might have retreated having something then to lose but you never know. It is just a pain of what might have been had we had got to the group stages and pocketed the 30 or so million which in turn may have been enough to turn that Moyes team from cup finalists to trophy winners.

All by the by now and to be honest by harking back to these incidents we just get this perpetual negativity which seeps into the club and supporters which imho hinders us. I would rather we start celebrating the anniversaries of positive events.

Still would have went out regardless of the decision, the fact after 13 years people are still holding onto this as some of corruption...well let’s put it this way, if it were the RS I know how some you would be reacting

We just happen to get the best team.
We just happen to get the home leg first.
We just happen to be refereed by a retiree.
He just happens to give one of the most ludicrous decisions of all time.

He can look super cool and above those calling it corruption if you want. But it's more of a stretch to believe it wasn't corruption.
