Thats the hard start out of the way, could have been better but could have been worse.

It's the next ten that will tell us a lot more about the team and manager.

Basically this.

After last season, then seeing our first ten fixtures this I honestly had us being way way down at this point.

If you were given the choice of opponent between Sunderland and Man City, who would you choose?

Last season we drew with Man. City and the season before that most on here were delighted they beat us.

Sunderland, on the other hand, have left here with maximum points in the last two seasons on occasions when the results were vital to us.

If you think playing Sunderland at home is going to be any easier than Man. City then you ain't been paying close enough attention in recent seasons.

In short, Sunderland may not be as good as City but they will present a whole nother set of problems and nowt we have seen recently suggests they will be any easier to surmount than the problems City pose.

It's a very good return given our fixtures, when you abstract a bit.

Definitely room for improvement within those fixtures though. Watford, Liverpool and today, mainly. Felt all 3 could and should have reaped more.
to be fair, although we could've nicked a point, arsenal did waste a few golden chances as well. they deserved the 3 pts imho.

But big picture, 13 from these grueling 10 matches, and showing a lot of heart in the League Cup and at WBA, I think we are in a pretty good position to make a real climb here. Need to get behind the lads now, as we saw what lack of confidence did to them last season

When the fixture list game out half the forum figured we'd be lucky to have 8-9 points and now 13 from the toughest start in the league is a "disgrace"

exactly. We need some perspective. Big picture, being where we are, and looking very good in stretches in so doing, with Baines out all year and playing with kids in the back four, in that stretch of matches, we'd have killed for this in August.

If the next ten games bring less than 15 points then sure lets be upset but, whilst I wish we'd done better and most of our performances deserved wins except again City and United and today probably deserved a draw if it wasn't for Howard, it's not the worst start given the fixtures.
