12 games in and post-derby: Martinez verdict

More than happy. We have at footballing man who is positive in everything he's done.
The players have smiles on their faces.....that makes a huge difference.

Martinez has not disappointed my early optimism -
he is a clever and passionate football lover -
when those 2 attributes combine very little stands in its way -
just what the doctor ordered for Everton

I've just been reminded of the December fixture list - tough games at United, Arsenal and Swansea. If we can come away from those with at least 5 points I'll be delighted.
I think we've honestly got enough to nullify Arsenals midfield if we switch on, that's their strength. Whether or not we can offer enough of a threat to them is another thing. United are vulnerable but have an excellent forward line. Swansea we should be beating, if we hit our stride.

Repwatch:

My OP in this thread got neg rep: "Please search for similar threads before posting"

Even after these posts:

ach! I didn't see that one. I searched for "martinez" in thread titles and the last one I got of this nature was after 3 games in.

Mods can merge if yous like :)

Nice...lots of red reps going round tonight, you'd think we'd be happy after such a pulsating derby. What's wrong with everyone?

Also noticed a few good blues carrying round red stripes for no apparent reason. Be a shame if this friendly funny community turns all hateful and bitter for no good reason.

Less attacking but with so far intermittent prettier football with more potential than his predecessors style, we've had some absolutely dire 45's, followed or preceding some sumptuous 45's.
Once we are consistent I think we'll be a genuine force, 45 minutes of our quality play, followed by the same again and I think we are a rival for anyone (except maybe City).
A few things I still don't like, and I am still unsure when we finally get involved in a tonking for the first time, whether it will be us or the opposition on the receiving end, we have ability to provide chances either end at will it seems, but he has a great quality about him, a clear vision, flair, a good system, is well spoken and a bit of luck about him as well, and any way you look at it, that is a good combo...
Add that to a top 6 squad + Lukaku, and you have to say he has the potential to be a cracking addition to our great history, and could conceivably take us the next step up on our rise back to prominence after our fall from the eighties.

He is not just a walking cliche machine like Brenda - I think he has some real passion in him as well as in these early days being tactically astute regarding his subs and producing a growing "feel good " factor around the club - yes its not been plain sailing but what did we expect ? 12 wins ? So brilliant to go into a derby without fear - hope we do it at O/t and arsenal. He is still developing as a manager of a much bigger club than his previous ones and if he succeeds then we do One thing I have loved is his reactions in front of the media - he is not just a "nice " manager, he has a lot of hidden steel. early days but I would have taken this before the first match - we have to wait for further developments and just enjoy watching our team again

no real contest, is it...

Were doing ok, were prob about were I'd have expected us to be in terms of points league position etc.So I'm happy with him.

Then you were more optimistic than me ! - losing our Manager after 11 years and getting in a guy who wanted to change the style of play completely & who had gotten his last team relegated.... I think the fella is doing great.. & with style
