“Fans” that won’t support us if we get Allardyce

I think people are missing the point with why some fans are still appalled that Allardyce is our manager.

I think it comes down to what cost are you willing to accept for a modicum of 'success', with apparently staying in the league being success in this instance.

For many, having the figurehead of the club as a proven crook isn't a price worth paying for a club of our tradition, especially when many of us didn't actually think relegation was a serious possibility anyway.

It's hard to say whether that is an overblown view to have with Allardyce, but a fact is a fact - the man is a crook. Add to that bringing in a Kopite as an assistant and it's a bitter pill to swallow.

For me personally, I find the fact he's here distasteful, but if his transfers are handled by third parties and carefully vetted then like everyone he deserves a second chance (despite no remorse whatsoever for his actions, but hey ho.)

But I do and always did think that hiring him was completely unnecessary and fuelled by panic. What's done is done - whether you felt Allardyce as Everton manager to be abhorrent, at this point I'd suggest just giving him a second chance and the opportunity to win you over with what he does now rather than what he's done in the past. And that includes whether you have reservations about his football - give him 12 months and see what he does in charge of a talented squad for a change. If he's rubbish, he's gone - if not, you're pleasantly surprised. Win win.
I largely agree with this, barring you saying he’s a proven crook - he isn’t

Actually under Koeman we often did. Especially in the winter slump he had, the football was shambolic.

Good point, but it shouldn't stop us aspiring to it always.

It wasn't a penalty, anybody with eyes can see that the foul was outside the area. The referee was wrong, as are you.

To be honest I completely understand what you are saying about needs must. If you look back through my posts I was suggesting Unsworth bored the arse off everybody with 2 banks of 4 to get points from the start of his tenure. The issue I have with the hoofing yesterday and for example at Anfield is that it's aimless and simply hands posession back to the opposition. Like I say it'll be interesting to see where this now develops and also how much of a stomach for it Goodison has moving forwards.

We're just gonna have to agree to disagree.
Do you reckon he'd play Deulofeu?
Nobody does for long.

This thread’s just going round in circles.

We’re all aware of ‘that’ keyhole tape of sam ‘giving counsel’, ahum, and signing players through his son, or whatever, for his personal gain(alleged); and football wise, he’s a one-trick pony whose tactics should be consigned to the annals: it simply ain’t sexy.

But the ‘crowning turd in the water pipe’ has to be that L*******l fans believe he’s all we deserve.

Let’s just be honest.

Aye, pretty much this.

Add in: I am not enjoying watching Everton performances at the minute but I am enjoying Everton results at the minute.

First proper test on Saturday, mind.

not my ideal choice either, BUT I'm willing to give him chance and actually get behind him, my glass is always half full, not half empty.

I'm genuinely interested to see what sort of players Allardyce will be looking at signing and who he ACTUALLY is able to get in in the window.

like @Eggs has said, this might be a bit of different club/situation he is used to being at, and so his style of football might be very different.

heres a question, when was the last time an Allardyce team was anywhere near the top 6 ??

Anyone who thinks Sam is the only premiership manager who knows loop holes in the system or has even been involved in dubious transfers is also expecting a rotund old man with a white beard (not ken Bates) to bring all the presents on Xmas eve.
Sams only failure was to be daft enough to be taped doing it. Hopefully he has learnt thatblesson for the next transfer window.

Accusations and unanswered concerns?

Has he actually been found guilty of anything?

That Weinstein bloke hasn't been found guilty of anything officially either; he's still a serial sexual assaulter and rapist.

Add on top Allardyce's shenanigans in 2016 and there's not so much as "smoke with fire" as volcano with an ash cloud that can be seen from space.

The man is a crook in his profession - it is what it is. Acknowledgement with a second chance given is all well and good; turning a blind eye is full on 'Kopites wearing Suarez shirts'.

I totally agree.

I reckon a fair percentage of all league managers have taken a little sweetener at some point. whether it be hard cash or just a bottle of whiskey etc etc

People in most professions like that will do. But some are worse than others - I have little doubt whatsoever that the likes of Redknapp and Allardyce are in the 'worse' category.

Crap comparison. Weinstein has been accused by dozens of women all alleging the same thing. However, he remains innocent until proven guilty

Allardyce did nothing wrong in 2016, barring being naive.

He’s not a crook in his profession at all, you sound like a tabloid editor ffs
