I've never really supported moyes, I thought he diminished the clubs reputation to enhance his own standing, but the time he left we were seen as a club overachieving by finishing 5th-7th. Where, even in the smith years we were considered to be a sleeping giant in the general media. Regarding the smith appointment he was a good singing on paper, he'd just dominated Scotland for a decade.
Unfortunately footballs moved on and the mind set put in place by moyes has largely stuck. To the point where Sam allardyce is now considered to be the best candidate for the job.
I don't support the allardyce appointment, I think it's a measure of how far we've fallen. Which is sad. But you've gotta accept it for what it is and at least give him the time to see if his methods work.
Who knows, this is the best squad he's had in domestic football, and easily the biggest club he's managed, he might just do something great.
