“Fans” that won’t support us if we get Allardyce

Just one of many reasons why we shouldn't sign him. But probably should be given more significance given the number and quality of young players we have on our books at the moment.

Brought this up in a post yesterday, and how having a path to the first team is so important if this young talent were to develop, and that they wouldn't have that under Allardyce so their careers will be effectively ruined. Somebody responded with a post that basically said don't worry about it, if they're any good another club would pick them up. I was speechless:)

Dowell, kenny, Benni, Davies, better start looking for new clubs as they ain’t getting game time under Sam.

Community?

Hold on, is this because Allardyces murky past?

You do realise your messiah got into bed with Philip Green? Or do you pretend to ignore that?
We have a chairman who is a liar.
Have an ex jail bird as a coach
A player on the books who has been done for drugs and passing on funny money.
One who not long ago was accused of slapping his Mrs.
One who , used ladies of the night and cheats on his wife.
And that's off the top of my head but all of a sudden we are selling are soul because BFS is coming in?

This exactly. Where on earth does this perception that we are all saintly come from? We're part of a fantastic community-based football club, which should be enough. We don't need to pretend we're eff'ing Mother Teresa.

Good riddance.

Go and boo someone else instead.

*mic drop

i think, with the vast majority, it's just words on a screen mate.

Most of them will scream and shout, but, again for the vast majority, the club's like a second family, and, though some will disown their family, most just grumble about Aunty Ethel's farts and incontinence, and put up with the daft old cow.

His first 25 games in charge of Sunderland = 27 points. If he does exactly the same we'd get 39. Use his overall points per game from Sunderland and it works out as 41 points.

His 21 games at Palace = 26 points. Would have us on 38 with 4 games left so that's better. Use his points per game from CP it works out as 43 points.

His record, and I include WHU also, is patchy. You can say that's due to having crap teams to manage and that's true but he's hardly the god like guarantor of survival some portray him to be. Going on his past record it's likely we'll stay up but it'll be close.

The thing is people have fallen hook line and sinker for his "never been relegated" claptrap. All the above says to me is he has been very lucky. Constantly finishing in the low 40s and relying on 3 worse teams in the league. Not that he's some specialist.

It's the same sort of revisionism that clouds Everton in the 90's. That we were somehow specialists in miraculous survivals. It's not true, we got really lucky, and if you got offer me the decade that followed I'd take it every day, over a team that thrived when it was on the brink.

One final point in this, is Sunderland went down like a shot last season, and Palace look like they are going to do similar. He inherited (Palace certainly) in 15th and at no point ever looked to move beyond just staying up. Finishing below 11th is a major blip for us, but if Allardyce repeats his patterns it won't be.

There is no magic potion in the human form of a fat headed brummie named Sam that can guarantee you survival. I understand why that's reassuring for people. If I could sign a form that said survival now I'd do it. Allardyce, in spite of his protestations doesn't give you that though. What he gives you, is you will be in the frame for a great number of works, and you better hope lady luck shines on you.

Sam Allardyce is a good manager. He should (it's sad that i am typing this sentence) get us organized and keep us up at least.Obviously i would prefer for this to be until the end of the season. But if he is going to be here longer than that. Then im sure he will put in place some solid foundations for his successor to build on.The reality is that we are way off challenging the elite sides. We need to get back to basics and Big Sam is a get back to basics sort of manager.Forget about challenging for the elite for now.We need to get ourselves organized, and stop being such a pitiful rabble first.

Look i thought Koeman would be our best manager since Howard Kendall! So maybe Big Sam might surprise us, and do a better job for us than we thought.Who knows he might get us playing attractive winning football!Look we can't leave Unsy in charge beyond tomorrow night.Im sure he's desperate to get back to the u23's as well.We need an experienced manager and Big Sam is that.Let's give him a chance before condemning him and writing him off, before he arrives in the door.

And none of that was Big Sams fault lol As its not with Palace

of course I'll still support the club as any fan will.

It will just make me feel awkward and embarrassed most of the time.

It's been hard enough supporting Everton for most of the last 25 years but at least we could claim a higher cause and point to the school of science. Oh well..

Another HMHB fan :D

And don't forget some of our former players. Franny Jeffers - IIRC - got done for assault, Tim Howard allegedly paid his ex-girlfriend to have an abortion, Michael Branch got into drugs and ended up in jail, Howard Kendall was an alkie, Gazza is batshit insane and beat his wife, Peanuts got done for drunk driving and so did Gibson. Everton are no more angelic than any other team.

The best post on here for ages.......BS is a crook but all the ‘blues’ with a bit of history are saints.
