I think you want the moon on a stick. We'd all love us to be pinging it about like City, but that's just not realistic right now is it? Do you remember how fantastic we were less than a month ago? Something had to give and maybe we had to go back to basics a bit. There is a bit of hoofball, but it's nowhere near as bad as you're suggesting. If it alleviates the pressure from the defence or starts a quick attack then what's the problem?

Actually under Koeman we often did. Especially in the winter slump he had, the football was shambolic.

To be honest I completely understand what you are saying about needs must. If you look back through my posts I was suggesting Unsworth bored the arse off everybody with 2 banks of 4 to get points from the start of his tenure. The issue I have with the hoofing yesterday and for example at Anfield is that it's aimless and simply hands posession back to the opposition. Like I say it'll be interesting to see where this now develops and also how much of a stomach for it Goodison has moving forwards.

We have played one top team as yet - so it's early days for Sam he has had a honeymoon start nothing that concisive in his wins which have been such a relief for the fans - lets see how Sam can set up v Chelsea, and if we get a result then judge him!
...Allardyce can only work with what he’s got. He can’t transform us into Barcelona overnight. What i’m most impressed with is his post-match analysis because he says the team are poor in possession and need to offer more threat. He appears to want what we want.
I also think Shakespeare (in particular) and Walsh will have a major influence on the way we play going forward. I suspect that’s why Allardyce wanted his backroom people on board. Like any senior manager, he’ll only be as good as those who work for him. I don’t think it’s a coincidence he’s connected to Shakespeare throughout games.
The stereotypical view of Allardyce teams might not be appropriate here. Time will tell.

It was better at times but I wouldn't go as far as scintillating..........and if you go to the match and saw it, a lot of the time it was pretty pointless
