Let me throw my two cents in here.
In today's transfer market, the bid would have to be at least 15M for me to say, "Ok, good luck Mikky and thanks for your service to Everton Football Club."
But (and this is a big BUT), even at 15M, I'd be reluctant to let him go and here's why.
I really think that one of the issues that has contributed to our current form, predicament, whatever you want to call it is a lack of players who are quality ON THE BALL. This isn't a new issue for us but I believe that our current form is highlighting the issue more so now than ever before.
I hesitate to bring up Fernandes yet again but I agree with the earlier post. The whole reason I wanted him back was that we'd have had two players in Arteta and Fernandes that could possess the ball in the middle of the park effectively. Ok, so we didn't bring Manny back. That's the way it goes.
But to sell the ONLY PLAYER we have that can possess the ball in the midfield like Arteta can just doesn't make much sense to me. None of our other midfielders (jury still out of Felliani and Castillo) have the quality on the ball like Mikky does (and even then I doubt Fellaini and Castillo are up to Mikky's standard.)
None of our midfielders other than Arteta have the ability to take a game over and dictate the play.
Yeah, Mikky's form hasn't been like we've seen it a little over a year ago but I believe that's down to not only him finding is form after being injured, but the overall lack of form from a team standpoint.
But I do think there's a bit of a rush to throw the baby out with the bathwater here. Yes, we're so used to Arteta running the show out there that since he hasn't for awhile, we want rid of him.
That just doesn't make good common sense to me.
I really think that the supporters ought to see just how poor our collective form is and how it's affecting everyone on the pitch. And I do mean EVERYONE.
