Hi again,

New Colombian supporter. As someone who just watched his first full Everton match, I have a few humble observations.

1. Very happy James landed here. It is as mutually rewarding situation as I've ever seen. Your team will benefit greatly from.his creativity while he from a team perfectly set up to exploit his talents. Also, loving the fanbase and the forum.

2. This team is MUCH better than anyone gives them.credit for. The starting 11 can compete with anyone on any given night. The midfield is perfect with workrate, passing, and creativity. Richarlison is very skilled and will be the biggest beneficiary from James since James will look for him from across the field to change the front of the attack.. DCL, although not very popular here, seems to be the perfect 9 for this team and the EPL. Guy works hard and is a good target man.

3. The squad needs a right flank option. Preferably a RB that ventures forward. As I mentioned in the James thread, James lacks pace, is extremely left footed, and is a smart but not great dribbler. He and the team will benefit tremendously from a RB that he can associate with and play off of. He was great at this with Arias in the national team. DCL would also benefit a lot as a target man from creativity coming from both flanks and through the middle from James.

4. Depth. The starting 11 is very good, but an injury or 2 to the key players and you go from competing for European spots to being a middle of the table team. Need to add some depth to be able to properly rotate and cover injuries

Last but not least, this could be a special season.. The "big 6" will all have to cover European competitions while the Toffees will only have the local cups and the league. A couple of more moves and some luck with injuries, and you will be in it until the end.

Overall, so happy to share this season with you lads and best of luck!
We’re all loving the new Colombian fans so welcome and hope you enjoy!
Trust us when we say, the team may now be a lot better than we’re given credit for but before James, Doucoure and Allan, it was worse than you can ever imagine! If it wasn’t for Richarlison we could’ve been in big trouble before Carlo came in!

It's sad, but not surprising, that you can spot this after one day on this forum...he gets ridiculous criticism.

I can't pretend to know more than the fans who have been watching for years or even enough to form a credible opinion.

But based on the VERY little I've seen, seems like he was not the right type of striker for last year's team, but a great one for this year's.

Meaning last year, the team had a poor midfield that lacked creativity. A player like him that is not creative himself was only going to look bad. The team would have benefitted more from a forward that could link up and create for himself. A more technical striker per se. A guy like Richy was always gonna look good while DCL not.

This year the team has a very good midfield and actually benefits from a striker like him who will be in the box and receive service from James and the wings. He also seems to run and press. I definitely don't see him as a weak link for this team. A proper 9 this lad.

But I could be WAY off on my observation lol

All I can say it's been good to see a young player improve over time...it's not been a common occurrence for us. He also proves just how good Lukaku was at putting the ball in the net as the service from midfield was just as poor back then and the striker just as isolated. He was also just as criticized by the armchair brigade too, so make of that what you will.

Keep an eye on Dom...put yourself in his shoes and just go along for the ride, it's all you can do. I've seen a hell of a lot worse than him in my 27 years of floating in the blueniverse.
