Media attitude towards Everton.

Arsenal, Southampton and Palace below us, and yet :

What a bizarre article. On us it even acknowledges that "With 33 points now, Carlo Ancelotti’s lot have all but maintained their 90-year stay in the top flight. A dramatic 3-2 comeback against Watford definitely helped matters and now Everton could be looking towards a top seven position. Amazing work has been done at the club recently, considering how recently the Toffees looked rudderless"

It actually seems like someone purposefully decided that Everton had to feature in a piece about relegation, no matter what, whereas Arsenal, though they aren't going to be relegated either, simply could not be associated with the R word.

Could you imagine how funny it would be if the wheels came off big time at Arsenal and they went down?

Unreal.. since Carlo took over we are 2nd in form but he says we are Faltering.. why do they hate us so much?

I actually don't have a huge problem with the terminology used in that particular article.

The definition of 'faltering' is to proceed with hesitation. Implying our form is inconsistent, which it is to be honest.

Could it mean that the media actually have bigger expectations of the club / the team given we're managed by Carlo Ancelotti, our recent expenditure comparable with the top teams in Europe, tenuous links to Usmanov and the new stadium?

Could it mean that, in their eyes, the club should aspire to better than draws with Newcastle, West Ham and exiting the FA Cup to Liverpool's kids?
