Bolton Wanderers - Callum Connolly played full match in 0-2 away defeat to Swansea City

OS Match Report
"At the other end, a fierce volley from Connolly was kept out by Nordfeldt as Wanderers almost got their noses in front."

We have a break in play here with @Callum1connolly receiving treatment. He's hobbled off, but hopefully he can carry on. (11)
.@Callum1connolly is back in the thick of the action and Wanderers are having to defend against a fair amount of pressure and ball retention from the hosts. (15)
A Matt Grimes free-kick is pushed away by @Remi_matthews before @Callum1connolly takes no chances and puts the ball behind for a corner that Wanderers clear. (38)
Josh Magennis sets up @PawelOlkowski for a first-time cross from the right that drops to @Callum1connolly and he forces Kristoffer Nordfeldt into a strong save. Decent chance for Wanderers! (40)
After a deep corner from @Gazoneil was retrieved by Sammy Ameobi, he then delivered a teasing cross into the box that was just a yard ahead of David Wheater and @Callum1connolly. Fine margins there. (48)

No particular comments about him...

Anthony Evans was an unused sub for Blackpool.
Joe Williams, Antonee Robinson and Beni Baningime were not in matchday squads.

Sheffield United - Kieran Dowell started and was substituted in the 62nd minute of a 0-0 away draw at Sheffield Wednesday

OS Match Report

"I felt Dowell was quiet and not close enough to the front two."
"Dowell 6/10 – Not really in it due to the way we played Had a few runs early on but then got hustled out of it. After this he was ineffectual. When he did have it; I felt he was a bit slow to make decisions and we needed more from him in terms of carrying it or committing players. Not surprised he went off."

....watched a bit of the game myself, was so much wanting Dowell to unleash a piledriver in those soaking conditions but it didn’t quite happen. Thought he was competitive and he was involved in a clash of heads before he went off.

Or Robinson, who hasn't played since November, which is a bit of a shame as he had a chance to claim the backup left back spot for next season with Baines being out of contract.

robinson has been injured, beni has disappeared with no info, pretty much like he did with us.

Championship
Bolton Wanderers - Callum Connolly played full match in 2-1 home win over Millwall
Joe Williams started and was substituted in the 87th minute of the same match

OS Match Report
"Into added time, and Wanderers should have gone ahead through Callum Connolly. A superbly whipped corner kick from O’Neil had Archer all at sea, with Callum Connolly just needing to make contact on the ball to steer it home. Unfortunately for him and Wanderers, he was unable to do so."
"The Polish international got on the end of Connolly’s pass, before beating Meredith and finding the bottom left corner with his weaker foot."
"The Lions came as close to an equaliser without changing the score, as Lee Gregory powered a header into what looked an open goal, before midfielder Joe Williams cleared it off the line – fantastic from the Everton loanee.
Wanderers then doubled their lead however on the hour mark through O’Neil. A clearance up field from Joe Williams found O’Neil free with space to run into. The wily veteran got to the edge of the area, turned Mahlon Romero inside out and dispatched the ball expertly past Archer’s outstretched hand."
"He then found Joe Williams, who fired from just inside the area but couldn’t keep it down, as the ball sailed over the bar."

YELLOW CARD: First booking of the afternoon goes to Shaun Williams for a robust challenge on @Callum1connolly. (6)
.@Gazoneil's corner into the box gets to the far post and @Callum1connolly can't quite get contact on the ball with the goal at his mercy. (45+2)
GOAL!!! ⚽️ Wanderers 1-0 @MillwallFC (Olkowski 48) @PawelOlkowski collects @Callum1connolly's superb pass, gets the better of James Meredith inside the box, and slots the ball into the bottom corner!
Chance @MillwallFC. Shane Ferguson's in-swinging corner is met by the head of Lee Gregory (We think) and the ball is cleared off the line superbly by @JoeWilliams0812. Very close to an equaliser for the visitors. (57)
GOAL!!! ⚽️ Wanderers 2-0 @MillwallFC (O'Neil 60) What a goal from @Gazoneil! Played through by @JoeWilliams0812, he carried the ball a long way and was caught up, but he twisted Mahlon Romeo inside and out before lashing the ball into the bottom corner.
YELLOW CARD: Tom Elliott is booked for a pull-back on @JoeWilliams0812. (84)

"The midfield trio of O'Neill, Williams and Connelly were superb."
"Early in the second half, they went very close with a chance which fortuitously hit Williams at the back post to prevent a certain goal.... then Williams made the most of a lucky rebound to put O'Neill through, who twisted and turned to get a second. ...Williams was my man of the match"
"i'd give Williams the MOM for his all round performance, both winning the ball & stopping Millwall playing but also using it well."
"Connolly and Williams were superb in protecting the back four. Amazing how much less of a bomb scare we looked in defence because of how many attacks were being cut off by those two in midfield."
"The two Everton kids - proper committed. Proper pros the pair of em."
"Thought Williams was outstanding today"

Wigan Athletic - Antonee Robinson played full match and was booked in 2-3 away defeat at Reading

OS Match Report
"Robinson returned to the starting XI at left back for the first time since his ankle injury on USA international duty in November."

27' Reading counter on the right side, first they're met by the pace of @Antonee_Jedi, then the strength of @reecejames69 who muscled McCleary off the ball and found Garner who was pushed from behind. (0-1)
49' Yellow. Liam Moore clatters through Antonee Robinson and Reece James just inside Latics' half, poor challenge and into the book. Both receiving treatment. (1-1)
57' Yellow. @Antonee_Jedi into the book. He tracked Meite's run on the right side, slid in from the side and played the ball into touch... (1-1)

Best Bolasie game so far (even though he didn't score; general play). Assist for Kums (one-two) for the first goal. Played a role in the second goal; free-kick that resulted from him being torpedoed at the edge of the box. Also hit the crossbar with a shot. Play-off 1 now a certainty for RSCA, very good from a financial pov.

Good game for our lads @Bolton. Sounds like they had a great game defensively, and set up both goals between them too :)

Wigan Athletic - Antonee Robinson played full match in 0-3 away loss to Blackburn Rovers

OS Match Report

Fan comment
"Olsson and Robinson are awful. So so bad."

Sheffield United - Kieran Dowell started and was substituted in the 45th minute of a 2-0 home win against Brentford

OS Match Report
"Dowell evaded two challenges before playing the ball to Fleck, he unleashed a powerful effort, but with Daniels beaten it went just too high."

Twitter stuff
"14’ Persistent work from Dowell sets up an opportunity for Fleck, who fires just wide from 25 yards 0-0"

Fan comment
"Dowell 6/10 – He had a few early runs but then faded and did not help us keep the ball when we needed to press higher up the field. I felt at times we conceded possession too easy and needed him to do more of what he did early on when he ran with it a few times and moved us up the field. One poor shot and then another where he made the wrong final ball. Felt with 10 men he was always going to come off as he does not do enough defensively."

Bolton Wanderers - Callum Connolly played full match in 0-2 home defeat to Sheffield Wednesday
Joe Williams started the same match and was substituted in the 72nd minute

OS Match Report
"Callum Connolly, who was playing at the left side of the defence for this game, responded for the Whites as he took aim from distance, but had his shot blocked by a Wednesday defender."
"Shouts of handball came following a Joe Williams snapshot from the edge of the area on 39 minutes, but referee Stephen Martin waved away any protesting Wanderers players."

Twitter stuff
Sammy Ameobi looks to work an opening and sees a cross to the far post cleared as far as @Callum1connolly who saw a first time shot from 20 yards out, blocked. (13)
Atdhe Nuhiu's pass escapes Adam Reach and @JoeWilliams0812 picks up the loose ball before seeing an eventual shot from the edge of the box, blocked. Half-hearted handball appeals waved away. (39)
After Josh Magennis is fouled, @Callum1connolly steps up to strike a free-kick from distance that he skewed well wide of the target. (89)

Fan comment
"I thought Connolly at left back was a good move. At least he doesn't take minutes with a throw-in like Taylor. And has more pace than Taylor. He did well."

I believe Sheff Utd went down to 10 men in first half, hence Dowell being replaced at half time ,tactical more than a reflection on how hw was playing.
