2025/26 Adam Aznou

It’s not a surprise that he hasn’t become our first choice already, I think it’s a surprise that he hasn’t played a single minute of senior football. As I said, your posts from earlier in the season suggest you very much agree (you specifically talk about he clearly HAS been bought as a first teamer this season in fact, and state that he would - not might but would - have played in our very first game if he’d been fit) so I’m not sure why you’re now claiming it was obvious this was what would happen.
I have maintained he was bought as a back up LB. Meaning not a first choice. As a back up LB, I would have expected him to play the first game if fit because our first choice was injured. That’s literally the role of a back up. Back ups are often young players who need to develop into first choice players.

Someone has put a lot of faith into this one. It looks a crazy signing. It looked it after about 45 minutes against Roma simply because the club has been crying out for ready to hit the ground running fullbacks.
Thats where the crazy bit comes in. Every Everton fan knows we need fullbacks. Lets be honest most of us knew very little or next to nothhing of this kid. All we saw was weve signed a left back for 9m.
The realisation that he's as far off a hit the ground running fullback as you could get hit home.
This needs to pay off otherwise its just a reflection of how badly the club are treating this positon.
We do ok in terms of goals against considering. But it showed against Chelsea. The two areas we had absolutely no quality was fullbacks and centre forward.

He's quite clearly not even ready to be a back up. As shown when mykolenko got injured and we stuck a right footed midfielder in as left back on the opening game of the season.

You posted more than once that he was ready to play, that it was obvious the club thought he was ready to play and people claiming he wasn’t were wrong/jumping the gun etc. This isn’t meant to be a gotcha, I just looked up your posts on him because I thought you might have posted the quotes you mentioned at some point but obviously you hadn’t, because they hadn’t happened. All I’m saying is there’s no point now saying ‘oh it was always obvious he wasn’t going to have played a single minute’ because it wasn’t and you didn’t think it was either.

I haven’t said he is ready to play.

I made a post saying people had made their minds up he wasn’t ready after an hour vs Roma (because in the context of that post, there was some weird conspiracy that Moyes wasn’t picking him because he isn’t good enough/not ready when he was literally injured which is why he was unavailable). I’ve said multiple times we don’t have enough evidence either way about whether he is good enough. And I pointed out the club signed him as a back up so clearly felt he was good enough to be a back up. Not as a starter.

The only time I’ve then expected him to play, regardless of whether he is ready, was when our first choice was injured. But he was also injured.

I said when we signed him, he was back up and through August and september I’ve talked about him needing time and guidance.

I also never said he would never play a single minute. I mistakenly said Moyes said he wouldn’t be ready for a year and then apologised and corrected it to what he said about him not being ready, needing time and to build himself up.

I’d love to see all these posts where I’ve said he is ready to be starting for us at left back.

Why are you so desperate to avoid admitting you thought he’d have got on the pitch by now? It’s a bit weird.

I never claimed you said he’d have become a starter, but you said he would have played the first game of the season if fit and when someone said he wasn’t ready you said we’ve paid £8m for him so clearly the professionals think he is. The fact he hasn’t even had 5 minutes off the bench even when we’ve been comfortable (or the game is lost) and that we played Coleman at left back in the cup ahead of him, suggests this simply isn’t true, and that he isn’t really seen as the first choice back up either. Obviously you never know but everything I know about Moyes tells me he wouldn’t start a young player at full back in a PL game having not given them any sort of game time at all beforehand.

I said the professionals who signed him clearly thought he was good enough to be a back up. You are literally ignoring half of what wrote. That isn’t me saying they deem him ready for first team PL football. It’s also not me saying he is.

He wasn’t able to be a back up because he was injured, but yes, I would have expected our back up to have played in those games at the start of the season whilst the first choice is injured even if it would have been throwing someone not ready in to the mix.

That also doesn’t mean I think he is ready. Or that I have said he is ready to be a first teamer.

Anyway, I cba arguing. It appears he isn’t ready. Moyes said he he needs time and isn’t ready.

He will play eventually. Or he won’t.

Have a nice Christmas.

I’m not ignoring it? That’s why I said the evidence so far suggests he isn’t even seen as ready to be back up. I’ve never said you’re giving your opinion on his ability and I’m not giving mine, like I’ve said a number of times, I just don’t really understand the need to claim this is exactly how we all thought it would pan out (or even that we were ‘literally’ told it would) when it blatantly isn’t. I didn’t think we’d get to halfway through the season without him stepping foot on the pitch and neither did you, I just don’t know why that’s so hard to admit I suppose, but yeah it’s no big deal and hopefully isn’t going to ruin anyone’s Christmas.

"We're a bit short of players at the moment" - Gingerlotti.

Refuses to bring Armstrong back; wants to loan a LB out when we're struggling at LB.

I wonder how he's going to double down on the Big Lie now?
