2025/26 Iliman Ndiaye

Caveats ?

Injuries are part of the game , always were. Ifs , buts or maybe's dont come into it.

The last time we sold a player for £80 mil we replaced him with 6 number 10's ....yanno to spread the goals around.

Why not ?
Add 2 to 3 quality players and we could well be in and around the top places and heading for europe.

You mention Palace & Bournemouth
They are really the exception to the rule.
I'd also say Brighton .
They are all happy to be midtable teams to stay in the Prem and one won a cup .

I want much more than that , i'm thinking these new owners want this too.
So lets not sell our best players but add to them , show ambition and regain our place at the Top Table.

I agree with you on the most part.

"Injuries are part of the game" - Yes, as I said if Branthwaite has now had several bad injuries (based on time out) what happens to our team if Ndiaye is out for a season? Thats where having 2 or 3 quality players rather than one super player can have its benefits.

"The last time" - Yes, this is why I said that it depends on the strategy. Also who these replacements may be.

"Add 2 or 3 quality players" - Yes we all want Ndiaye to sign an extension for 5 years & spend to bring in 3 top players or 3 young players who can become top players. Who is signing these players, are they joining a team under Moyes sitting currently in 13th?

"Palace & Bournemouth" - Theyve not done anything outside the box last summer in terms of incomings. Truffert at Bournemouth we could have had in January, same with Kayode at Brentford.

"The owners want the best" - Then will they open up the chequebook for top young players to build a squad? Is there PSR room for this?

As I said, plenty of caveats.

In fairness you could replace him with someone like Fatawu at Leicester and still have spare change for a full back. Hopefully he goes nowhere though but he is the type that stands out in games and others take notice of that. He might also fancy euroball (his skillset deserves that level) which is why we need to finish as high as possible if we want to hold on to him.

If a high bid for Ndiaye came in and he was offered £200k a week, its a big decision for some. But not for others.

I like Fatawu
He looks great in the Championship
Can he do it in the Prem , huge gamble.

Playing Zats game we could buy Van Ewijk from Coventry or Juanlu from Seville for relatively low money and keep Illy.
Both very good Right backs that wont bust the bank.

You just said that Fatawu is a "huge gamble" then brought up Van Ewijk and Juanlu. Surely also "huge gambles".

You can either go for top quality at big money for the likes of Wharton and Anderson at fellow mid table teams (who would likely refuse to come and have top 4 offers anyway).

Or you take gambles like Rohl and Barry. Or you bring in u21s who are already showing quality and a bit less of a gamble.

To keep a player like (not saying him personally) Ndiaye, you need to spend on quality of a similar level and young players they can see will become top notch.

Without taking gambles were probably £150-200mil away from a quality first 11.

I remember Utd eyeing Coleman when he was at his peak.
Where they at the mulling, pondering, weighing up, interested or ready to bid stage?

As far as we know, they never made an attempt to sign him. They may well have been interested but to be honest, Coleman found his level at Everton and likely would have been found out elsewhere imo.

Baines on the other hand, could have gone anywhere and been a success. But he’s the same fella who didn’t like travelling away with England as he got home sick - so I don’t know if the Utd or Bayern moves would have worked out either.

Zat you dont half talk some gunk mate.

There is nothing simpler than the Best teams have the Best players.
If you have players in this category and sell them to the teams above you will always be second rate.

You can throw every caveat you want , but to win things you need to spend a lot of money and tie down your Best players.

You choose mate

I want the Best.

It’s always United with our players. Coleman included.
Probably trying to unsettle him as that is their way of working.

Every club bar Real Madrid is a selling club. Sometimes selling your best player can make you better if you reinvest well.

Would of struggled at Bayern with Philipp Lahm there

I could only speculate if it was a serious rumour.

Him and Baines have been outstanding players for us is all that matters to me personally.

According to Wiki:
On 3 July 2024, Premier League club Everton announced the signing of Ndiaye on a five-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

On 30 August 2024, Olympique de Marseille confirmed Maupay had signed on a loan deal lasting until the end of the season with an obligation to buy for £6 million.

Imagine being the person at Marseille responsible for that.

I heard it was a guy with a dodgy looking curly tache and a beret called Stef Vãlsh
