No. The other poster was saying "fans are trying to sell him", a phrase which makes no sense.
I was saying that there are multiple reasons to discuss selling players.
One being you can reinvest which in theory builds the team. Another being that you have a risk of injury see branthwaite...
Your example of Rooney being sold improving the team is wrong as well imo. Yes there was a great next season but nothing benefitted beyond that in selling Rooney as the following year we finished mid table.
Also different circumstances with one player being 18 and another 25.
Im on the fence with Ndiaye. Dont have enough information on what TFG would do with the money, nor the plan for Dibling.
Also, concerning that no contracts are signed with Garner or Mykolenko while Ndiaye probably feels he deserves a rise and an extension.
He may feel the time is right for a big move.

Teams that sell their best players usually end up mid table at best , lower tier or even relegated.
The teams that keep their best players and add to them usually are around the top end if the league.
Only teams full of superstars can afford to sell the odd player the rest cant .
Look at Southampton , Leicester and now Wolves.

Yes, but theres caveats.
You could argue there are concerns now with Branthwaites fitness. What if Ndiaye has a long term injury.
You could argue that 'if' the fee was £80mil then it would enable the club to sign players who could become £80mil players. This improves the team overall.
Bournemouth and Palace sold top players and recruited well.
The player may elect to leave.
Its not so simple for a team in 13th to have players at a possible £80mil value.
Then, who comes in for the money? What is the strategy? Who is the manager in 12months?
Is there money to spend?
Are there PSR constraints?
Etc etc
Id like to see Ndiaye stay for his entire career. Is that likely?
With the spending rules clubs have to be bringing in huge amounts of commercial revenue for it to be financially possible to hold onto and add to their top players.
Unfortunately the reality is that clubs who don't perform as well commercially need to sell to buy. And there aren't many players outside our top players who can bring in decent amounts to reinvest.
What we want or would like is pretty much academic. The way the rules are we will need to sell the odd player here and there that we'd rather keep in order to free up the finances to improve the overall team unless the clubs financial performance drastically improves to a degree that it outstrips the constantly inflating player market.
Caveats ?
Injuries are part of the game , always were. Ifs , buts or maybe's dont come into it.
The last time we sold a player for £80 mil we replaced him with 6 number 10's ....yanno to spread the goals around.
Why not ?
Add 2 to 3 quality players and we could well be in and around the top places and heading for europe.
You mention Palace & Bournemouth
They are really the exception to the rule.
I'd also say Brighton .
They are all happy to be midtable teams to stay in the Prem and one won a cup .
I want much more than that , i'm thinking these new owners want this too.
So lets not sell our best players but add to them , show ambition and regain our place at the Top Table.

In fairness you could replace him with someone like Fatawu at Leicester and still have spare change for a full back. Hopefully he goes nowhere though but he is the type that stands out in games and others take notice of that. He might also fancy euroball (his skillset deserves that level) which is why we need to finish as high as possible if we want to hold on to him.
I like Fatawu
He looks great in the Championship
Can he do it in the Prem , huge gamble.
Playing Zats game we could buy Van Ewijk from Coventry or Juanlu from Seville for relatively low money and keep Illy.
Both very good Right backs that wont bust the bank.
