2025/26 David Moyes

3pts off the top 6.

Cant really complain too much about the manager this season as for luck, finishing and poor refereeing we'd be in the top 6.

A few comments:

1: O'Brien we know isnt a RB, he also isnt currently a top CB. Tarkowski hasnt been good this season and Keane keeps our defence deep.

Branthwaite to return at some point but we need another top notch centre back. Together they could be ace and if Branthwaite continues to pick up injuries we need that other player to be the star.

2: The midfield 3 looks a mess to me. Garner has been good but Gana and KDH have not been at the races.

Rohl looks like be could be a player but has a scary injury history. Alcaraz is constantly misused by Moyes to keep his £28mil signing in the team and Iroegnunam looks like he can tackle players.

I think we need to bring in a top CM to play alongside Garner - unless KDH can replace Gana during AFCON and standout.

3: I wont make judgement on the 2 CFs until the end of the calendar year. But things do not look good, at all.

Basically, we need 3 new players in the spine and a right back.

Can Moyes see this? Substitutions and the way players are being used doesnt fill me with confidence.

And who signed one of those strikers? Yup, the Moyesiah.

If he's being let down by strikers, his fingerprints are all over the crime.

Who were the ones he signed who were consistently on the pitch and scored goals?

Yakubu & Johnson only i think.

Beattie, Saha & Beckford werent as effective as those 2 for different reasons.

We need one 'star' striker signed.

I don’t think there was too much to complain about today. We did ok for an hour or so, gave them something to think about and could have gone ahead, but ultimately lost to a much better side. It happens.
We got soaked up with hardly no threat thru the middle. They tired us out, then gobbled us up! Perfect tactics from a well composed side.

Moyes is a decent, old school manager. Perfect for small to midsize clubs or like us a binfire of a big club. The problem is it’s the manager that sets the tone, makes the whole club believe they can take on anyone on any given day, home or AWAY. With Davey boy the problem is literally no one believes that less than him and he ain’t changing now. He quite happily writes off 18 points a season
